We look at the entire facility—inside and out—and can impact 70% of what a building operator allocates critical budget dollars toward, including: Strategic electricity and natural gas procurement, renewable energy, and demand response; climate impact reduction and reporting, net zero strategies, and sustainability planning; roofing, solar, HVAC assessment management, pavement, building envelope, data center optimization, and EV charging; lighting/LED retrofits, HVAC/mechanical systems, and BMS/BAS improvements and implementation.General PurposeThis position entails supporting the financial analysis and accounting processing of our Energy and Corporate functional areas of the company. Key responsibilities involve posting cash receipts, reviewing and processing commission payouts, expense reporting management, and analysis on cash discrepancies along the way. Other duties include AP/AR processing and analysis, 1099 reporting, meter review analysis, producing sales commissions, ensuring consistency and accuracy. You'll also support ad-hoc incentive commission payouts, and compile and process tax filings payments.General Ledger Accounting & Financial AnalysisMonitor accounts receivable and work on collection effortsSupport Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) processing and analysisProvide weekly AP listing for payment approval. Items not approved to be communicated for cash forecastingReview vendor invoices for appropriate documentation and adherence to company policies, paying particular attention to reasonablenessSecure/verify approvals on all invoices, expense reports and check requestsTroubleshoot any and all AP related discrepanciesAnalyze and post cash receipts from customer commission reports, and resolve errors from cash receipt postingsPerform analysis on difference between posted and expected cash collections, and follow up with customers to determine what caused variancesCommunicate with internal and external sales partners to answer questions relating to commissionsProduce sales commissions for internal sales representatives on both a monthly and quarterly basis, checking for accuracy and reasonableness compared to prior periodsPrepare special project analyses as requiredCompile information for external auditors as requiredCharge expenses to appropriate accounts by analyzing invoices and expense reports, and recording entries, utilizing Navan and Bill.comCredit card transaction imports and reconciliations, utilizing Navan for further uploading into Sage IntacctProduce monthly expense reporting through NavanAssist with month-end accrualsManage tax filings for the Energy functional area, in addition to Corporate returnsSupport annual 1099 reporting and compliance requirementsMaintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practicesResearch and recommend programs, policies, and procedures to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the accounts payable function, including internal controls and customer serviceClose commodity contracts in CRM, ensuring that terms are accurateQualifications4+ years of experience in staff accounting, gneral ledger accounting, or related fieldBachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, or equivalent experience in lieu of degreeFamiliarity and competency with accounting software packagesProficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word and Excel)Advanced communication skills, verbal & writtenPreferred QualificationsExperience as a key contributor of a team within a growing companyExperience in the Retail Energy marketKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesExceptional organizational skillsAble to problem solve, prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentWork effectively with colleagues and Sales Partners by practicing respect for deadlines, collaborative problem solving and honest communicationBuild trusting relationships acting with integrity, courtesy and responsibility, even in the face of stress or demanding workplace conditionsFlexibility to deal with the unexpectedDetail oriented and accurate data entry and data analysis skillsDisplay empathy and positive regard for others in written, verbal and non-verbal communicationsAbility to handle confidential information in a discreet, professional manner$65,000 - $85,000 a yearBase SalaryNote: Employees are held accountable for all duties of this job.
