Position Overview Job Title: Builder Jig Employment Type: Full-Time Location: Wichita, KS Industry: Aviation Manufacturing Pay Rate: $28.00 - $45.00 per hour Your Impact As a Builder Jig, you will be instrumental in the aircraft manufacturing lifecycle by designing, fabricating, and assembling the precise tools and dies required for production. Your technical proficiency ensures that all tooling adheres strictly to engineering requirements, which facilitates the creation of high-quality aircraft. This position is perfect for a dedicated craftsperson who thrives on hands-on technical work, precision machining, and working alongside engineering and production teams to resolve complex manufacturing issues. Core Responsibilities Develop and execute tool and die layouts by utilizing Engineering, Tool Design, and Methods documentation. Assemble and verify tooling and dies to ensure they meet exact engineering standards. Utilize precision measurement tools to help maintain high quality and accuracy throughout the fabrication process. Identify and acquire the necessary raw materials for tool and die production. Production and Process Support Analyze Methods documentation to assess producibility and assist in identifying potential manufacturing challenges. Provide accurate labor-hour estimates for various tool and die projects. Collaborate with Engineering, Tool Design, and Manufacturing teams to help ensure successful project outcomes. Support ongoing process improvements by applying practical problem-solving techniques. Machining and Equipment Operation Set up and operate various machines, such as Mills, Lathes, Drill Presses, Surface Grinders, Table Routers, Power Hand Tools, and Heat Treat Ovens. Use precision measurement instruments to verify dimensional accuracy and compliance. Troubleshooting and Collaboration Diagnose fabrication and tooling issues to help develop effective, long-term solutions. Partner with multiple departments to resolve design, production, or construction obstacles. Maintain a safe and efficient work environment by adhering to all company standards. Required Qualifications Typically 7 years of conventional machining, sheet metal fabrication, or related manufacturing experience. Minimum 5 years of tool and die construction experience. Ability to read and interpret Engineering drawings, Methods documentation, and Tool Design documentation. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Experience using a variety of precision measurement instruments. Ability to set up and operate machining and fabrication equipment. Working knowledge of tool and die construction methods, materials, and equipment. Basic knowledge of Trigonometry, Geometry, and Algebra. Understanding of tool and die safety requirements. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments. Preferred Qualifications Aerospace or aviation manufacturing experience. Experience supporting complex tooling projects in a production environment. Advanced knowledge of fabrication methods and tooling processes.
