Hours: M-F/8 hr, ability to work flexible hours as needed to meet the requirements of the business/customer
Compensation: Commensurate with experience and ability. $60K base
Stone Designs, Inc. and the Granite Garden Gallery seek an experienced individual to manage day-to-day company needs, as well as the development and execution of strategic planning for scaling the current business structure. This is a multifaceted role in a small business/team environment. The Business manager will be responsible for personnel management and setting financial goals with the opportunity to develop the position as the company grows. The Business manager will work closely with the company owner to train and transition responsibilities over a year. Who We Are
Stone Designs, Inc. is a sculpture studio and outdoor art gallery located on a historic quarry in Downeast Maine. Since 1994 we’ve been creating beautiful and functional items such as sculpture, jewelry, home and office products to adorn your home and landscape. Each piece is handmade at the studio by fusing old and modern stoneworking tools and techniques. Our beautiful sculptures come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and styles. We also provide raw material options to customize outdoor spaces. At our gallery, we offer a peaceful place for folks to witness this truly unique atmosphere. Alongside our non-profit, Granite Art Garden, we promote history, art and sustainability through experiential learning and engagement with the land.
Responsibilities
Strategic planning and development of goals and objectives that promote company growth
Ensure that the company has adequate and suitable resources to complete production (e.g. people, materials, equipment, etc.)
Organize and coordinate operations in ways that ensure maximum productivity
Delegate responsibilities to the appropriate team member
Supervise the scheduling, hiring and firing of team members, including feedback and counsel to improve efficiency and effectiveness
Maintain relationships with team members, business partners, vendors and suppliers
Gather, analyze, and interpret external and internal data specifically for business growth
Ensure adherence to legal/safety rules and guidelines
Marketing and promotion of the gallery and products
The responsibilities of the Business Manager are not limited to the list above and can be adjusted and added to at any time
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum 5 years experience as a business manager or relevant role in a successful company
Excellent organizational and leadership skills
Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
Problem-solving skills
Adaptability
Sense of humor
Thorough understanding of diverse business processes and strategic development
Excellent knowledge of Google Drive, databases, and information systems
Good understanding of research methods and data analysis techniques
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job and overseeing staff, the manager would regularly be exposed to moving mechanical parts, heights, fumes, airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and loud noises. The ability to jump in and help lift heavy weight of 75 lb is sometimes required. We are located in Downeast Maine; the ability to live in rural communities with limited access to large cities must be considered before applying.
