Software Engineer

Job Description:Design and build scalable, serverless, and event-driven applications on AWS for multi-account commerce platform. Responsible for developing mission-critical backend services, APIs, database schemas, business logic orchestration, and frontend components that enable enterprise customers to share negotiated pricing across account networks.Key Responsibilities:• Design and implement microservices and serverless applications using Java and Spring Boot• Build event-driven orchestration workflows (AWS Step Functions, Lambda, Fargate)• Design high-performance NoSQL schemas (DynamoDB) and search indices (OpenSearch)• Implement RESTful APIs for segment membership, agreement provisioning, and membership management• Build React/TypeScript frontend components for internal tooling (20% of role)• Write comprehensive unit tests, integration tests, and end-to-end UI test automation• Collaborate across 5+ engineering teams with active cross-team dependenciesRequired Qualifications:• 3–5 years professional backend development experience• Java / Spring Boot / Spring Framework• AWS Services — Lambda, Fargate, API Gateway, ECS, S3, DynamoDB• Messaging/Streaming — SQS, Kinesis Data Streams• Orchestration — AWS Step Functions• Distributed Systems — microservices, event-driven architecture (EDA), async orchestration• API Design — RESTful APIs, service-to-service communication• DynamoDB — NoSQL schema design, high-performance data modeling• OpenSearch — indexing and search• DevOps — Infrastructure as Code (AWS CDK), Git-based workflows• React (JavaScript/TypeScript) — frontend (20% of role)• Node.js, Vite / Webpack — frontend build systems• Unit testing and integration testing (developer responsibility)• Cypress and Selenium/DTK — UI end-to-end test automation• CI/CD best practicesDesired Qualifications:• Prior experience with internal build systems (Brazil, HappyTrails)• Prior experience with Horizonte framework• Experience in high-scale distributed systems• Experience with AI and agentic tooling (AI-assisted development workflows, prompt engineering, agent frameworks)• Familiarity with monitoring tools (CloudWatch)• Multi-account data models and B2B procurement domain experienceCertifications: None required.Specific Technology/Platform Experience:• AWS serverless (Lambda, Step Functions, Fargate)• DynamoDB at scale (millions of records, GSI patterns)• Event-driven architecture (SNS/SQS/Kinesis)• React/TypeScript frontend development• Prior experience strongly preferred (familiarity with internal tooling, build systems, deployment patterns)• Suppliers who can provide resources physically located in Austin, TX are preferred• Prior experience delivering B2B/enterprise SaaS platforms is a plus
