Sandusky is beautifully situated along the shores of Lake Erie, offering easy access to beaches, boating, fishing, and scenic waterfront parks. The city blends small-town warmth with big-attraction energy, home to world-famous amusement destinations, expansive indoor and outdoor waterparks, and a revitalized historic downtown. With a reasonable cost of living, short commutes, and a strong sense of community, Sandusky provides an appealing quality of life for healthcare professionals at any stage of their careers. In this role, you will join a dedicated cardiovascular care team within a modern, well-equipped hospital environment that serves as a key resource for patients across the region. The cath lab features contemporary imaging systems, digital hemodynamic monitoring, and a collaborative, multidisciplinary care model designed to support both patient outcomes and staff satisfaction. You will work closely with interventional cardiologists, nurses, and other allied health professionals in a setting that values teamwork, respect, and continuous learning. Typical responsibilities for this Cardiac Cath / Cardiovascular Tech position include preparing the procedure room, equipment, and supplies for diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures; assisting the physician during cases by managing imaging, contrast, and hemodynamic monitoring; maintaining strict sterile technique; and ensuring accurate documentation in the electronic medical record. You may participate in a range of procedures such as diagnostic cardiac catheterizations, coronary angiography, percutaneous coronary interventions, and other vascular or structural heart procedures, based on the scope of services offered at the facility. Your day-to-day work will center on supporting safe, efficient, and high-quality care for diverse adult and older adult patient populations. Before procedures, you will help position patients, connect monitoring equipment, and verify readiness of all necessary supplies. During cases, you will operate imaging and monitoring systems, monitor vital signs and hemodynamic parameters, recognize and communicate changes in patient status, and anticipate the needs of the physician and team. After procedures, you may assist with patient transport, procedure documentation, equipment turnover, and room setup for the next case. The cath lab emphasizes coordinated workflow and clear communication, with a culture that encourages asking questions, sharing expertise, and supporting one another in high-acuity situations. Patient volumes and case mix may vary by day, but you can expect a blend of scheduled procedures and time-sensitive add-ons. Depending on the department’s structure, staffing is typically designed to ensure appropriate coverage in the procedure rooms and control areas, with an emphasis on patient safety and staff support. Call coverage for emergent cases, including STEMI alerts, may be required, offering the opportunity to be part of life-saving interventions for patients in critical need. Scheduling may include day-shift hours with some variation based on case volume, along with participation in a call rotation for evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed by the lab. The facility strives to provide clear expectations around shift patterns and call responsibilities so you can balance professional commitments with your life outside of work. Within the cath lab, you can expect strong support from leadership for ongoing training, cross-training, and skill development, helping you expand your capabilities across cardiovascular imaging and invasive procedures. Professionally, this role offers the chance to grow within a respected cardiovascular service line, gain experience with advanced procedures, and build a strong résumé in a hospital that values clinical excellence and patient-centered care. Whether you are an experienced cath lab technologist or an early-career cardiovascular tech looking to deepen your expertise, you will find opportunities here for mentorship, specialty development, and participation in quality and performance improvement initiatives that shape the future of cardiovascular care. Outside of work, Sandusky’s lakeside location gives you easy access to year-round recreation and relaxation. Enjoy summer evenings along the waterfront, explore nearby nature trails and parks, or take advantage of local marinas for boating on Lake Erie. Families appreciate the array of kid-friendly attractions, nearby schools, and community resources, while outdoor enthusiasts value the fishing, kayaking, and island excursions that are just a short drive or ferry ride away.
