This role supports safe patient care, staffing coordination, clinical decision-making, and effective communication among interdisciplinary teams. Staffing is based on acuity (no fixed ratios). Typical staffing includes 1 RN (prefer 2) and 1–2 psychiatric technicians per unit with roughly 15 beds per unit. Units You Will Support (5 Units at Eagleville) OAK1 – Long-Term Care Psych Unit Acute Unit 1 (locked): 55 coed; depression, personality disorders, schizophrenia; medically cleared; average stay 10–14 days PC1 – Acute Unit 2 (psych locked): coed; addiction and psych; medically cleared; 72-hour holds; may include detox and justice-involved admissions; average stay 10–14 days D2E – Detox Unit 1 (medical assisted treatment): IVs/treatments as needed; must be comfortable administering Suboxone and methadone; fewer comorbidities; average stay 5–7 days D2W – Detox Unit 2 (hospital level): medication assisted treatment; must be comfortable administering Suboxone and methadone; more medical comorbidities (e.g., diabetes, basic wound care, CPAP at night); average stay 5–7 days CTW – Residential Rehab Unit: detox and residential services; central med room Key Responsibilities Serve as the on-site clinical leader for night operations across assigned units. Coordinate staffing and patient placement based on acuity; provide support during admissions, transfers, and discharges. Respond to behavioral emergencies, initiate de-escalation, and ensure safe use of seclusion/restraint per policy and regulation. Provide clinical guidance, mentoring, and real-time problem-solving for RNs, LPNs (if applicable), and psych techs. Support medication administration oversight and controlled substance accountability; ensure safe MAT practices (Suboxone/methadone). Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary teams; communicate critical events and handoffs. Ensure compliance with documentation standards, safety rounds, and regulatory requirements. Required Qualifications Active Pennsylvania RN license (or compact license eligible to practice in PA). Minimum 2 years of recent psychiatric/behavioral health nursing experience; charge nurse or supervisory experience strongly preferred. Demonstrated competence with crisis intervention, de-escalation, and care of patients with serious mental illness and substance use disorders. Comfort with medication assisted treatment and administering Suboxone and methadone; ability to manage basic medical needs (e.g., diabetes, wound care, CPAP). BLS (AHA) required; CPI/PMAB or equivalent preferred (or willingness to obtain upon hire). Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills; ability to work independently on nights. Ability to pass required background checks, drug screening, and health/immunization requirements. Work Environment & Physical Requirements Fast-paced behavioral health setting with potential for crisis situations.
