Summer Camp Counselor (Full-time)

Summer Camp begins 6/8/2026 and ends 8/07/2026.Responsible for those programs assigned to them as well as supervising a group of children. Reports to the Recreation Team Supervisor, Specialist, and Youth and Teen Coordinator.Summer Camp activities at the City of Sunny Isles Beach may include, but are not limited to, athletic and sports-related events, arts and crafts, music, life skills and field trips.Position incumbent supports City sponsored programs; provides supervision with related activities, and must maintain effective working relationships with teammates, program participants, children and/or parents, as necessary.Prepare lesson planning for each day of the program.Prepare the program area for the different activities, ensuring safety and security.Instruct (or assist) children in the various activities providing guidance and coaching as necessary.Track the campers' attendance.Administer first aid, if necessary.Ensure supervisors are updated orally, or in writing, on all activities and are kept informed of any related issues.If required, perform facility maintenance, i.e. garbage disposal or cleaning up.Maintain adequate inventory of program or recreational activity supplies.Performs other related duties as assigned.Ability to work well with children.Ability to be friendly and courteous at all times when working with the children and staff.Ability to be creative with activities for the children.Ability to delegate tasks to assistants.Ability to take direction from supervisory staff.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to establish effective working relationship with children, adults and coworkers.Ability to work prolong hours outdoors.Ability to stand or be physically active for prolong hours.Education and Experience:High School diploma required.Associate or bachelor's degree in a related field such as Education, Recreation or Physical Education preferred.Minimum of one (1) year of related experience working with children preferably in a summer camp environment; or any acceptable combination of education and experience.License or Certification:CPR and First Aid certification preferred.Florida Driver's License may be required.40-hour Child Care Certification PreferredAdditional Information:It is the responsibility of the incumbent to maintain their licenses and/or certifications as a job requirement.Must be available to work the camp duration (6/8/2026-8/7/2026).Must also attend mandatory staff meeting orientation on 5/30/2026.
