Bilingual (English/Spanish) Residential Counselor

Second Story for Teens in Crisis is an adolescent group home located in Vienna, VA. We are looking for an individual of any experience level to work as a full-time bilingual (English & Spanish) Residential Counselor. This position is an excellent entry-level introduction to case management and crisis counseling in the mental health/social services field. The ideal candidate will be organized, reliable, compassionate, and eager to learn with strong communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills. Pay is $22 per hour. Responsibilities: Support residents through the daily house schedule Conduct individual and group counseling sessions Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy living environment Execute clinical case management, including case notes and treatment plans Answer crisis hotline calls Conduct intakes and discharge Provide oral and written translation services to residents and families as needed Schedule (non-negotiable): Sunday: 8:30am-4:30pm Monday: 3pm-11pm Tuesday: 10am-5pm Wednesday: 8:30am-5:30pm Thursday: 3:30pm-11:30pm Friday: OFF Saturday: OFF Qualifications: REQUIRED: Must be fully fluent in Spanish REQUIRED: Must have a bachelor’s degree (preferably in psychology, social work, human services, or a related field) REQUIRED: Must be willing to undergo a background investigation prior to employment and become certified in CPR/First Aid and Medication Administration PREFERRED: Prior experience in the mental health field, especially with teens PREFERRED: Prior experience with oral and/or written translation Second Story offers a competitive benefits package, including paid vacation and sick leave; annual merit-based salary increases for employees in good standing; free health insurance for staff (and reduced rates for family members); a Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) that fully covers your individual deductible; low-cost dental and vision insurance; employer-paid life and long-term disability insurance; access to an employee discount program; plus, (after one year of service) enrollment in a Simple-IRA retirement plan with employer matching.
