Position: Adult Career Center - TeacherSalary Rate: As per Salary ScheduleReports to: Adult DirectorEmployment:FLSA Status: ExemptRetirement: STRSDescription: Teach the appropriate course of study by using a variety of instructional techniques that meet individual learning styles.Note: The below lists are not ranked in order of importanceEssential Functions:Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude and conversationAttend meetings and in-services as requiredRecommend long-term adjustments, changes, additions, and deletions in the career-technical education programMaintain working relationship with community and state agencies and area businesses, industries, and labor organizations in order to provide appropriate trainingEnsure safety of studentsWork to identify and define local job opportunities and the role of the schools in meeting these opportunitiesCoordinate all work componentsInteract in a positive manner with staff, students, parents, and communityMaintain respect at all times for confidential information, e.g., cumulative folders and IEP'sMake contacts with the public with tact and diplomacyResponsible for the collection, review, and submission of all forms and reports relative to career-technical education to appropriate state agenciesAssist in disciplinary procedures and actions and record keepingCoordinate requests for repairs to lab equipmentOversee the distribution and inventory control of all supplies and equipment used by vocational studentsMaintain membership in and participate in the affairs of professional societies devoted to the advancement of vocational educationAssist in the recruitment of studentsEstablish an advisory committeeCoordinate the gathering, selecting, and analysis of data with respect to jobs availableOther Duties and Responsibilities* Perform other duties as assigned by supervisorRequired Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAble to acquire the appropriate certificate from the Ohio Dept. of Ed.Ability to work effectively with othersCounseling skillsAbility to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writingEffective, active listening skillsOrganizational and problem solving skillsGeneral computer and word processing skills, including spreadsheets, data base and presentation softwareKnowledge of academic area and teaching methodologyEquipment OperatedMotor VehicleComputer/printerTelephoneFax machineCopy machineTypewriterAdditional Working ConditionsWeekends/evening/summer workRepetitive hand motion, e.g., computer keyboard, typing, calculator, writingRequirement to travel, both daily and overnightThis job description is subject to change and in no manner states or implies that these are the only duties and responsibilities to be performed by the incumbent.
