TCEQ - Tier II Environmental Protection Specialist II (Statewide)

See details about what we do .This position is a member of our Critical Infrastructure Division.Here’s What You’ll Be Doing Assist the regulated community in submitting Tier II chemical reports and provide compliance guidance on the interpretation of the Texas Community Right-to-Know Acts (TCRAs), and the federal Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA). Conduct technical reviews of Tier II reports to ensure compliance with EPCRA and TCRAs. Identify incorrect or missing report data and follow up to request revisions or additional information. Assist with Tier II data activities that may include internal and external data requests; data clean-up requests; creating custom reports; researching and verifying data discrepancies; public information requests; and other projects as assigned. Make presentations to the regulated community, emergency management officials, and industry partners through agency organized functions and other industry related organizations. Create and update training documents and presentations, and conduct trainings at external workshops and conferences. Key Qualifications Experience interpreting, researching and/or implementing environmental rules, regulations, policies, or procedures related to Tier II Chemical Reporting Program. Experience using databases and related programs such as CCEDS, Central Registry, BOEXI/BOE, STEERS. Experience reviewing environmental data or documents. QualificationsREQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCEBachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in natural or physical science, environmental studies, public health, hazardous materials management, or related field plus one year of full-time experience performing environmental, regulatory, or public health and safety work.OR A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university plus two years of full-time experience performing environmental, regulatory, or public health and safety work.ORFour years of full-time experience performing environmental, regulatory, or public health and safety work.Employees in this classification series may research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure, including but not limited to a communication infrastructure system, cybersecurity system, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment system, or water treatment facility.
