Group PMX is seeking an experienced Cost Estimator. Candidates for this position will need have a good understanding of construction means & methods, and construction estimating & cost management processes. Duties may include, but not be limited to; development of cost estimates throughout various design phases from high level pre-schematic/programmatic (SD), to design development (DD) and detailed construction documentation (CD) stages. In addition, the candidate should have experience conducting estimate reconciliations, evaluating value engineering options, review and level contractor / subcontractor bids, and, during construction evaluate and negotiate change orders and review & assess contractor invoices. Other responsibilities will include participating in meetings, coordinating with client in-house personnel, maintaining COR and CO logs, preparing negotiation strategies, and updating project cost reports DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE Review plans, architectural & engineering drawings, and specifications for development of estimates Perform quantity takeoffs architectural, structural, MEP, instrumentation & controls, and site/civil disciplines. Refine cost estimates as updated drawings are issued throughout various design phases Understanding of construction and construction means and methods Review and leveling of bids confirming that the scope intent has been met. Identify and price items that have been omitted or excluded. Prepare in-house change order estimates and have a proven track record in change order negotiations. Maintain change order request and change order logs reporting to project staff on the status of reviews and issues and the ability to document change order negotiations in a clear concise manner. Capability and willingness to perform inspections of job site conditions and project progress, which may include climbing stairs and/or ladders to access areas throughout the project, accessing roofs, inspecting mechanical equipment rooms and electrical rooms, etc., to assist in the development of estimates. Analytical and quantitative skills Attention to detail Ability to set and be accountable for project deadlines Excellent skills with Microsoft Office Suite and other construction related programs, particularly “on screen” type take off packages (OST, Planswift, Bluebeam, etc.) Establishing labor rates based on locality and union versus non-union. Establishing unit prices based on anticipated productivity and current market values Identify cost trends to assist management in decision making Qualities Ability to develop and maintain successful business relations and efficiently and effectively meet project goals and objectives Strong communications skills and relationship-building skills Ability to respond effectively and appropriately to the most sensitive issues Ability to assist in developing effective and persuasive presentations Negotiation skills Good judgment and reasoning ability, enabling problem solving with a variety of options in varying situations Excellent communication & presentation skills Collaboration, transparency, and leadership are the hallmark of Group PMX Experience Bachelor s degree (BA/BS) (engineering and/or construction management a plus) 5+ years’ experience in construction management particularly in cost estimating/cost management Estimating construction costs during design & construction OSHA- 30, DBIA, CCM, PMP, and PMI certifications preferred. We encourage and support you in obtaining PE and other certifications. Salary: $125,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
