Transplant Hepatologist
OverviewThe Methodist Transplant Institute, in partnership with The University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC), is accepting applications for a transplant hepatologist. As a leader in organ transplantation for more than 40 years, the program offers liver, kidney, and pancreas transplantation, living‑donor organ transplantation, and hepatobiliary surgery. The position focuses on general and transplant hepatology with a balance of outpatient clinics and inpatient liver service on a rotating basis with other hepatologists. Fellows in transplant hepatology are welcome to apply.ResponsibilitiesProvide and manage direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, and assessments using best practices to diagnose and treat patients. Prescribe pharmaceuticals and other medications as appropriate. Refer patients to specialists and relevant patient care components. Evaluate patients for the need for and level of prescribed medicines and consider alternative techniques for patient care. Manage the daily operations of a specific medical program, patient care unit, or research function. Direct and coordinate patient care activities of nursing and support staff. Follow established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and infection‑control standards. Participate in health promotion, education, and prevention programs. Explain procedures, discuss test results, and prescribe treatments with patients and families. Order, perform, and interpret tests, analyze records, reports, and examination information to diagnose patients’ conditions. Maintain accurate and timely documentation within three days of visit or discharge. Coordinate work with nurses, social workers, rehabilitation therapists, pharmacists, psychologists, and other health‑care providers. Support call coverage for the practice and hospitals. Maintain productivity at acceptable levels and focus on high patient and family satisfaction.
