Position Title: CNC Machinist IILocation: Houston, TX 77041Duration: 6 Months (Possible extension)XXXX: $25.00/hr on W2Shift: 5:00 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday-Friday (Most Saturdays required, 6-8 hours)Job SummaryResponsible for setting up and operating CNC 2-axis lathes, CNC 3-axis mills, manual machines, and related equipment to produce parts as per specifications. Also involved in fixture/jig design and supporting production efficiency and quality.Key ResponsibilitiesLevel I Functions:Operate CNC machines (lathes, mills, saws) for various materialsPerform setups, first article inspections, and follow blueprints/work instructionsInspect materials and components to meet quality standardsFollow safety protocols; report unsafe conditions immediatelyMaintain production and inventory accuracy (WIP, transactions, etc.)Complete inspection documentation and daily maintenance checksUse Oracle ERP for work orders, material tracking, and reportingParticipate in Lean/continuous improvement activitiesLevel II Functions:Operate all CNC 2-axis lathes and 3-axis mills with full proficiencyTrain and guide junior machinists; document trainingMonitor shift performance using GEMBA boards and implement improvementsPerform audits (process, quality, first-piece, roving)Handle PRs and ECN reportsDemonstrate strong understanding of manufacturing processesEducation & ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED (preferred)5+ years of CNC/manual machining experience2-year machining degree or trade certification (preferred)ERP system experience (Oracle preferred)Skills & RequirementsLevel I:Ability to operate machines independently and meet quality standardsStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsAbility to read blueprints, schematics, and BOMsKnowledge of G-code and M-codeProficient with measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)Basic math skills (fractions, decimals, measurements)Computer and email communication skillsForklift certificationLevel II:All Level I skills plus:Ability to work with minimal supervisionAbility to edit CNC programs (G-code/M-code)Experience with Windchill and middleware systemsCapability to train others and improve processesLean manufacturing knowledgePhysical RequirementsLift up to 40 lbsStand for up to 4 hoursFrequent bending, lifting, walking, pushing, pullingAbility to work extended hours and weekendsOperate motorized equipment
