Reporting directly to the Vice President of Finance, the role extends beyond execution of the close to include process improvement, support of new initiatives tied to company growth, and cross-functional partnership as business needs evolve.Ownership includes end-to-end accounting processes across payables and payroll and will be developing and implementing new accounting policies and procedures to scale within the organization. Strong execution discipline ensures accuracy, timeliness, and financial integrity across all workflows.The role also brings structure to accounting operations by evaluating existing workflows, reducing manual processes, and implementing scalable solutions. Success requires balancing hands-on execution with continuous improvement, building systems that scale with the business.Key Responsibilities Accounting Operations & Close Lead key components of the accounting close process, including preparation of all journal entries and account reconciliations, including complex areas such as stock compensation and leasesPrepare financial reporting including the balance sheet, statement of profit and loss, statement of stockholders’ equity and statement of cash flowsLead the tracking and accrual of costs for our product pipeline, including working across functional teams and with external service providersOwn end-to-end accounting processes across accounts payable and payrollEnsure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial transactions and reportingMaintain strong operational discipline across all accounting workflowsProcess Improvement & Automation Develop the Company’s ERP, purchase order, expense reimbursement and equity plan systems, including testing and training of personnel as neededEvaluate existing workflows to identify inefficiencies and areas of riskReduce manual processes and implement scalable solutions across accounting operationsIdentify and implement automation opportunities to improve accuracy and efficiencySupport the development of a technology-enabled accounting function aligned to company growthControls, Compliance & Audit Maintain and strengthen internal controls across accounting processesEnsure alignment with company policies, audit standards, and regulatory requirementsSupport external audits and tax preparation, ensuring documentation and financial records are audit-readyAssist in the development and documentation of accounting policies, procedures, and best practicesBusiness Partnership & Growth Support Collaborate cross-functionally with operational teams on payroll, benefits, and financial workflowsSupport technical accounting initiatives tied to new and evolving business operationsEvaluate financial impacts of company growth initiatives and expansion activitiesContribute to building scalable financial infrastructure to support long-term growthKnowledge, Skills & Abilities Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or Finance requiredCPA requiredStrong knowledge of GAAP and core accounting principles, including accounting close processes, journal entries and reconciliationsProficiency in GAAP technical accounting for stock-based compensation and leasesUnderstanding of payroll operationsUnderstanding of internal controls and audit requirements, with the ability to maintain and strengthen processesAbility to own and execute multiple accounting processes end-to-endAbility to work within and meet all deadlines while executing on multiple deliverablesAbility to identify errors and root causes of errors, develop workable solutions or alternativesStrong analytical rigor and problem-solving capabilityStrong organizational skills and ability to manage competing prioritiesEffective communication and cross-functional collaboration skillsAbility to operate independently and bring structure to evolving environmentsAbility to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentialityProficient in ExcelExperience Minimum 3–7 years of accounting experience, including public accounting background at a nationally recognized or large regional accounting firm requiredBiotechnology or life science industry experience requiredExperience owning or leading components of the accounting close processExperience managing full-cycle accounts payable, with a focus on accuracy and controlsExperience supporting or leading audit preparation, including documentation and process walkthroughsExperience with accounting and payroll systems such as QuickBooks, Bill.com, ADP Run, or similarExperience identifying and implementing process improvements, automation, or system enhancementsExperience working in a high-growth or scaling environmentWorking at Anagram Fast-paced environment – Thriving in an environment of change and continuous improvement is a core competency for all members of our team.Dynamic roles - We are a small and tight-knit team enthusiastically tackling difficult problems.
