Software Engineering Manager, Priority Based Budgeting

Overview In this role you lead the Priority Based Budgeting engineering team, enabling local governments to make data-driven budgeting decisions. You will guide multi-location engineers, partner with product, architecture, and operations to deliver scalable, reliable software. You’ll drive culture, continuous improvement, and high performance while shaping the platform’s evolution in a modern AWS-native stack. This is a hands-on leadership role with a focus on talent development, delivery velocity, and customer outcomes. ResponsibilitiesLead and mentor a distributed team building and evolving the Priority Based Budgeting platform on AWS-native architectureFoster cohesive engineering culture through communication, accountability, and shared ownershipAlign development priorities with business goals by partnering with product, architecture, platform operations, and supportCoach engineers through one-on-ones, performance reviews, and career growth planningAdvance Agile and DevOps practices to improve delivery, quality, and reliabilityBalance roadmap execution with production support, protecting capacity while addressing issuesEnsure application reliability, security, performance, and operational excellence with proactive monitoringPromote modern software practices including AI-assisted development, automation, observability, and cloud-native designsDefine and track engineering metrics to improve delivery predictability, quality, reliability, and customer satisfactionContribute to cloud modernization and evolution of Priority Based Budgeting products and platformsChampion process improvements, tooling enhancements, and engineering best practices Key requirementsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related fieldExperience leading software engineering teams with a track record of delivering complex projectsHands-on background designing and operating large-scale web applicationsAbility to lead technical discussions and architectural reviews while empowering engineersFamiliarity with .NET, JavaScript, SQL Server, and AWS services is a plusStrong understanding of DevOps principles and CI/CD practicesExperience working in Agile environments and solid SDLC knowledgeExcellent communication and stakeholder engagement skillsProven decision-making and ability to navigate complex organizational/technical challengesExperience managing geographically distributed teamsstrong communicationmentorship and coachingcross-functional collaborationAWS.NETJavaScript
