We work closely with business stakeholders across Equities Trading, Compliance, Wealth Management, Investment Banking, Capital Markets, Research, and Operations to deliver innovative, scalable, and secure technology solutions. Our teams leverage modern software engineering practices, cloud technologies, Agile methodologies, and data-driven decision making to support the firm's continued growth and digital transformation initiatives.Role OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled and motivated SQL Server Developer with 6-8 years of hands-on experience in database development, design, administration, and performance optimization. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in database architecture and design principles, extensive experience with SQL Server technologies, and a proven ability to support multiple projects and business teams simultaneously.This role requires excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, along with the ability to thrive in a collaborative Agile environment. Experience in Financial Services and cloud platforms such as AWS is highly desirable.The expected compensation for this role is: 110K – 130K a year plus performance bonus.Job ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, implement, and maintain SQL Server databases and related database objects.Create and optimize stored procedures, functions, views, triggers, and complex SQL queries.Develop scalable and efficient database solutions aligned with business and technical requirements.Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, indexing strategies, and execution plan analysis.Design logical and physical data models following industry-standard database design principles.Monitor database health and proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.Manage database maintenance activities including backups, restores, integrity checks, index maintenance, and disaster recovery planning.Collaborate closely with application development, QA, DevOps, infrastructure, and business teams to support project delivery.Participate in database deployments, release management, and production support activities.Support multiple concurrent projects while maintaining high-quality deliverables and meeting project deadlines.Troubleshoot database-related issues across development, testing, and production environments.Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives involving database standards, automation, and operational efficiency.Ensure compliance with security, governance, and data management best practices.Base QualificationsBachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.6-8 years of professional experience working with Microsoft SQL Server.Strong understanding of: Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS), Database normalization and denormalization, Data modeling and database architecture, Indexing strategies and query optimization, Transaction management and locking mechanisms, High availability and disaster recovery conceptsHands-on experience with: SQL Server 2016/2019/2022, T-SQL development, Stored Procedures, Views, Triggers, Functions, SQL Server Agent Jobs, Backup and Recovery, Database Monitoring and Performance TuningExperience supporting applications through the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.Experience working with source control and deployment processes.Ability to manage priorities across multiple projects and stakeholders.Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Preferred QualificationsExperience within Financial Services, Capital Markets, Investment Banking, Wealth Management, FinTech, or related industries.Experience with cloud platforms, particularly Amazon Web Services (AWS).Familiarity with: AWS RDS, EC2, S3, CloudWatch, IAMExperience working with ETL processes and data integration workflows.Exposure to DevOps and CI/CD practices.Experience supporting mission-critical production systems.Familiarity with Power BI, SSIS, or related data/reporting tools.What Success Looks LikeDeliver high-quality database solutions that are scalable, reliable, and performant.Effectively support multiple projects and business teams simultaneously.Minimize database performance issues through proactive monitoring and optimization.Collaborate effectively with developers, business analysts, QA teams, and infrastructure teams.Contribute to continuous improvement of database standards, processes, and operational excellence.Why MaximMaxim is a fast-growing firm with an eye on expansion.
