Title: Cogeneration Power Plant -Assistant Plant Manager Position Type: Direct Hire Location: Ohio Status: Exempt Key Project Requirements 8+ years of supervisory or management experience in a cogeneration or similar power plant environment Experience managing a represented (union) workforce required Strong background in utility systems, powerhouse infrastructure, and plant O&M Demonstrated leadership in safety, reliability, and continuous improvement Experience supporting outages, maintenance planning, and budget management Job Summary NAES is seeking an experienced Assistant Plant Manager to support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of a power generation facility in Toledo, Ohio. This role is a key member of the site leadership team and provides day-to-day leadership to the operations and maintenance groups under the direction of the Plant Manager. The Assistant Plant Manager is responsible for driving a strong safety culture, ensuring environmental and regulatory compliance, supporting maintenance and outage execution, and continuously improving plant performance, reliability, and cost efficiency. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Lead and promote a strong safety culture; ensure compliance with all safety and environmental requirements and implement corrective actions as needed Develop and maintain consistent operating philosophies and best practices to maximize plant availability, efficiency, and reliability Ensure contractors and plant personnel comply with all site and company policies, procedures, and safety standards Manage O&M Technicians and Skilled Trades to ensure safe, efficient plant operation, including staffing, scheduling, and overtime management Oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategies within the maintenance management system Investigate operating issues, incidents, and equipment failures; drive improvements in reliability and performance Prepare and review plant operating reports and support investigation and reporting of forced outages Support the Plant Manager with budget development, cost optimization, and maintenance engineering evaluations Assist with planning and execution of outages and capital improvement projects Drive continuous improvement of plant performance metrics and operating practices Develop, coach, and mentor plant personnel to strengthen technical skills, system knowledge, and problem-solving capabilities Support management of change processes and lead or support structured problem-solving activities Maintain effective communication with plant leadership, administrative staff, and O&M personnel Support recruiting, onboarding, training, and performance management of plant staff Job Requirements Thorough understanding of power plant operations and maintenance practices Strong knowledge of generating equipment, boilers, and water treatment systems Proven ability to analyze and improve operational and business processes Experience with planning and scheduling preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities Solid understanding of plant engineering and maintenance functions and their integration with operations Working knowledge of budgeting and cost analysis related to plant operations and maintenance Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, and direct programs impacting overall plant performance Education / Experience: High school diploma or GED required Minimum of 8 years of supervisory or management experience in a cogeneration or similar power plant with a union workforce Technical degree preferred
