This cook provides breakfast and lunch for our independent living residents. Approximately 16 hours per week with every other weekend rotation.Your Role as the Dining Service CookIndependent LivingAmericare Senior Living is seeking a dependable and service-minded Dining Service Cook to prepare and serve family-style meals, snacks, and beverages for residents in our Independent Living community. In this role, you'll support a warm, welcoming dining experience that feels like home while meeting nutrition and food safety standards.This position may also support special events, staff meals, and person-centered requests where food is prepared based on resident preferences.SummaryThe Dining Service Cook prepares and cooks meals in quantities based on menus and resident needs while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment. This role supports resident satisfaction through nutritious, well-prepared meals and friendly service.This role may also be known as:Dining Service Cook, Cook, Kitchen Cook, Food Service Cook, or Independent Living Cook.What You'll DoPrepare and cook family-style meals, snacks, and beverages for residentsCook foodstuffs according to menu plans and number of residents servedSupport person-centered dining by preparing meals based on resident requests when applicableBake breads and pastries and assist with meat preparation as neededPrepare and serve food and drinks in a timely mannerAssist with cooking and food preparation for special activities and eventsAttend and serve food during staff meetings or in-service sessions when requestedStore, label, and organize food in a safe and sanitary mannerWash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipmentSet and clear tables before and after mealsMaintain a clean, sanitary, and safe kitchen and dining environmentInspect kitchen equipment and report maintenance or safety concernsWhat You BringQualificationsEducation & AgeMust be at least 18 years of ageGrade school education requiredLicenses / CertificationsNone requiredSkills & AbilitiesUnderstanding of nutrition-based mealsAbility to follow menus and food preparation guidelinesSafe food handling and sanitation practicesAbility to work independently and as part of a teamService-oriented mindset with attention to resident satisfactionPhysical DemandsStand, walk, bend, and change positions frequentlyLift and carry food supplies using safe techniquesUse carts and lift smaller quantities to prevent injurySafely operate kitchen equipment and toolsWork EnvironmentThis role is performed in an Independent Living kitchen and dining environment focused on comfort, routine, and resident choice.
