DescriptionJob Title: Elementary Assistant PrincipalPosition Function: The assistant principal is directly responsible to the building principal and assists in the administration, supervision, and evaluation of the educational program and supportive services/activities in the school.Essential Performance ResponsibilitiesAssists the building principal and supports all stakeholders representing the school community in developing the vision, mission and goals of the schoolSupports the implementation of the school improvement planAssists the building principal’s use of data to monitor and adjust as necessary the action plan and goals of the school improvement planAssists the building principal to develop and implement a proactive and positive approach to behavior managementAssists the building principal in ensuring all students are making academic progress by monitoring the instructional programsEnsures instructional guidelines are in place and teachers are following the district adopted course and grade level standards and teachers are following the curriculum with fidelitySupports all students have access to the core curriculum and that teachers differentiate instruction and intervention based on student dataSupports students having access to a variety of activities that support their leadership, physical, emotional, social and attitudinal growthSupports students having access to services that support mental, physical, and emotional wellness for every studentAssists the building principal in evaluating all staff members for the purpose of improving student growth, identify professional learning needs, promoting teacher leadership, and making decisionsMonitors instruction through observations, coaching conversation and provides necessary feedback to enhance teaching and learningMay be involved in recruiting, hiring, assigning, disciplining, and dismissing school staffSupports a positive culture of learning and collaboration necessary to create and support high levels of learning for all studentsSupports distributive leadership opportunities for staffPromotes the success of every student and staff by ensuring management of the organization, operation and resources for a safe, efficient, and effective learning environmentSupports a culture of collaboration, trust, learning and high expectations for allBuilds and sustains partnerships with families and community partnersFollows established timelines and guidelines for all of the elements required by federal, state and district policiesMaintains high standards of student conduct and enforces discipline as necessary and assures due process for students when appropriateAssumes responsibility for routine administrative and supervisory tasks (i.e. enrollment, attendance, transportation, SPED, ELL, school sponsored events, etc.)Assumes responsibility for the administration of the school in the absence of the building PrincipalSupports a safe learning environment by adhering to all crisis plans, school wide behavior plans and policiesAdditional Duties: The Assistant Principal will be responsible for other duties which may be assigned by the Building Principal and/or Assistant Superintendent of Elementary/Secondary Schools.Equipment: The employee must demonstrate the ability to use basic office equipment such as computers, scanners, copiers, and fax machine.
