Engineering Technician II

The Engineering Technician II is responsible for performing electrical, mechanical, and environmental tests of current and new product designs under close supervision. Conducts continuous improvement activities to reduce the potential for product defects. Involved with problem identification, containment activities, action plan development and execution. Ensure that the test requirements for product testing and processes are defined and met.ResponsibilitiesSetup test equipment and products in proper sequence per testing procedures;Perform tests on prototypes, existing, and competitor products for stated criteria involving mechanical, electrical, environmental, and electromechanical functions through ISO 17025 and Laboratory Scope of OperationsUse various mechanical, electrical, and electronic measurement devicesAccurately interpret and document scientific notation, temperature, pressure, and other measurementsAssists in the assembly and fabrication of test equipment and prototype products per blueprint specificationsFollow guidelines for bill of materialsSupport manufacturing through troubleshooting activities; Maintain test-related documentation in, and support administration of, database environmentPrepare formal and informal test reportsAssist with the Generac Engineering Laboratory Audit and organization 5S programsRequirementsHigh School Diploma2 Years of relevant work experience Preferred QualificationsExperience managing projects or participating in project teams;Experience using specialized equipment such as engine dynamometers;Experience welding, shaping sheet metal, mill or turning (dependent on lab location).Knowledge, Skills And AbilitiesBasic skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.Able to work non-standard or extended work hours when necessary.Demonstrate self-motivation.Complete projects within guidelines.Work effectively in a fast-pace, team environment.Communicate effectively though written and oral means.Demonstrate aptitude to lead and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.Understand basic electrical techniques and theories.Demonstrate testing competence as required per ISO 17025 and the Laboratory Scope of Operations.Provide own basic set of tools.BenefitsWe are an inclusive company that celebrates differences and keeps equity and respect at the forefront.Competitive Benefits: Health, Dental, Vision, & 401k401 (k) retirement savings plans with company matchMedical support programs: Maternity, Diabetes, Treatment Decision Support and moreWork-life benefits: PTO and Holidays
