SummaryOur client, a growing financial services company in Columbia, SC is looking to add a Tax Accountant (CPA) to their team. This role will be responsible for managing complex and varied reporting requirements and licensing requirements for applicable states. It focuses on federal and state tax, licensing compliance and regulatory filings rather than general accounting. Key duties include preparing numerous financial forms, required quarterly witholding reports, and periodic reporting to state licensing authorities.Responsibilities:Research and monitor changes to federal and state laws regarding withholdings to ensure adherence to applicable regulations and taxing authorities.Develop procedures for withholdings based on type and applicable state.Accurately maintain required quarterly reporting for all applicable states.Work closely with CFO for organization of data, regulations and reviews of returns being filed.Act as a liaison during taxing authority audits, resolving discrepancies and providing necessary documentation.Perform other related duties as assigned to support the team and organizational goals.Essential Skills and ExperienceCertified Public Accountant (CPA) license is requiredTwo years of experience in tax at a CPA firm.Willingness to deeply research and understand complex and detailed reporting requirements.Professional demeanor and good communication skills with the ability to work well with others in a fast-paced environment.Demonstrate strong organizational skills including record keeping, time management, and follow up.Strong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to multi-task, prioritize and deal with interruptions while meeting timely deadlines.
