Details Work on an acute care Medical/Surgical unit with a neuroscience and general surgery focus (8W Neuro/General Surgery Unit, 24 beds) Patient population includes neuroscience, general surgery, and mixed general medicine patients depending on census Patient ratio of 1:4-5 depending on staffing No step-down component on this unit Schedule is 3x12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), 36 hours/week Holiday rotation required 3-4 weekend shifts required per 4-week schedule Floating within scope required to meet facility needs Charting via Epic Requirements Active RN license for South Carolina (SC) or a compact/multi-state license — candidates with a pending SC license may be considered but must have license active prior to start Minimum 1 year of RN experience required Current BLS certification required (AHA-issued only) ACLS and NIHSS certifications preferred (AHA-issued) Neuro experience preferred SSN and driver's license required for consideration 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration Additional Information Level I Trauma Center, Magnet-designated teaching hospital with 820 staffed beds First-time travelers are welcome to apply Candidates who were previously permanent or PRN staff at any MUSC location must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler Non-local candidates are prioritized; local candidates (within 60 miles of the facility) may be considered on a case-by-case basis Candidates living within 60 miles of the facility are considered local Online modules are required to be completed prior to the start of the assignment Scrub requirement: solid royal blue or white top with royal blue bottoms Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season (June–November), all staff and contractors may be assigned to emergency response duties; peak months are August and September A $20 one-time registration fee is required for a parking hang tag granting access to the designated parking garage American Traveler Job ID P-687719.
