Job SummaryThis position will be responsible for safely providing mechanical supervision and leadership to the Mechanical Maintenance Team to ensure that all equipment is available when needed to produce products for our customers. To take the lead in converting the mill from a reactive parts changer/fixer mode to a proactive mode where we anticipate problems and improve the reliability of the plant. This position is 100% onsite.Direct Reports / Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position supervises a team of Maintenance Technicians.Position ResponsibilitiesTo provide supervision and leadership to the Maintenance Mechanical TeamEstablish clear expectations for your maintenance employees and see that these expectations are carried out.Increase maintenance performance using training resources made available through the company.Effective and efficient use of SAP (maintenance scheduling & tracking system)Resolve inter-departmental issues at the Leadership level and at the Craft level.Resolve recurring mechanical issues to the root cause to increase plant reliability.Be a leader in communicating within the Maintenance Department and with Production. This includes emailing Production on changes made to the process by the maintenance department.Need to spend a minimum of 25% of your day (2 hours) on the Plant floor coaching Technicians, evaluating the quality and quantity of their work, and walking down jobs.Utilize written evaluations of maintenance personnel to identify their skill gaps and training needs (yearly).Develop necessary practices, procedures and calendars to ensure adequate maintenance coverage at the plant.Accept coaching for continued growth, development and performance enhancementBe a member of the Maintenance On-Call rotation. Expectation is to be on-site within one hour of a call-inInvestigate the root cause of equipment failure and make recommendations for long-term fix.Lead Maintenance Mechanical Team crew meetings and other group functional meetings/training.Support the crew to resolve process related issues and during process upset conditions.Assist Maintenance Manager with budget responsibilities by closely monitoring costs in your department including overtime.Required Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesCollege Degree is a plus, or equivalent experienceMinimum 5+ years of manufacturing experience3+ years of experience managing and leading peopleAble to lead people in a variety of maintenance activitiesAbility to undertake multiple projects and manage key business metricsKnowledge of mechanical systemsMicrosoft Word, ExcelAbility to manage capital and deferred projects, both timelines and budgetKnowledge of electrical and instrumentation is a plusMicrosoft Access, PowerPoint, Project is a plusSafety RequirementsDemonstrate safe work practices and model proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), such as hard hats, safety glasses, and safety shoesAdhere to safety policies and procedures, maintaining a clean and organized work environmentMaintain required certifications, including lockout/tagoutParticipate in safety programs and report safety incidents or near-missesDocument and address upset conditions or procedures following established protocolsContribute to environmental stewardship in all work areasPhysical RequirementsAbility to move freely throughout the facility, including climbing stairs and laddersPerform tasks involving bending, stooping, and crouching for equipment inspection and maintenanceLift and carry materials or equipment weighing up to 70 poundsConduct physical tasks requiring lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying heavy objectsStand and walk for extended periods in environments with dust, chemicals, high noise levels, and varying temperaturesWork EnvironmentWork is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and temperature variationsPhysical activity, including standing, climbing, and lifting, is requiredUse of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatoryMay include working irregular hours, such as nights, weekends, and holidays, and being on call for emergenciesAbout Us: At ARAUCO, we're more than a global leader in sustainable wood products-we're a team driven by innovation, environmental stewardship, and strong core values.
