Communications SpecialistJob OverviewCommunications Specialist to support statewide maternal health initiatives. This role involves content development, graphic design support, strategic communications, public health messaging, and community engagement.Key ResponsibilitiesContent Development & CommunicationsDevelop and manage content across websites, newsletters, social media, print materials, and reportsTranslate complex public health topics into clear, engaging content for diverse audiencesCreate culturally relevant communication materials with internal teams and community partnersEnsure documents meet ADA, WCAG 2.1 AA, and Section 508 accessibility standardsProduce monthly newsletters using My Emma and track engagement metricsPrepare quarterly communications performance reportsCommunity EngagementSupport communication planning for maternal health initiatives and partner organizationsBuild relationships with internal and external stakeholdersContribute to statewide awareness campaigns and community education projectsRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Graphic Design, or related field (or equivalent portfolio experience)2–5 years of communications experience (public health, nonprofit, or government preferred)Experience with Canva, Microsoft Office Suite, and ExcelExperience with My Emma or similar email marketing platformsStrong writing, editing, and storytelling abilitiesKnowledge of cultural competency in health communicationsAbility to manage multiple projects in a remote/hybrid environmentMust currently reside in Tennessee
