Job DetailsJob ID: 4937881Job DescriptionThis position is eligible for SBCSC's Employee Referral Program.English Language Instructional Specialist for South Bend Community School Corporation to assess, monitor, and support English language acquisition across social & instructional objectives. Specifically:Be an onsite test administrator for WIDA, a federally-mandated exam for students whose primary language is not English. (2%)Compile student data for Individualized Language Plans (ILPs) for ENL students in order to monitor their English language acquisition across social and instructional objectives. (6%)Select and monitor various interventions including accommodations and modifications for inclusion in students' individualized Language Plans. (7%)Write lesson plans with embedded ENL supports, accommodations, and modifications in conjugation with the Professional Learning Community grade-level team.Support general education teachers with the integration of content and language under the guidance of the ELD WIDA framework. The framework covers the following domains:Language for social and instructional purposesLanguage for ELALanguage for MathematicsLanguage for ScienceLangauge for Social StudiesPlan and execute monthly parent meetings for families with ENL students in collaboration with the school-based ENL team. (2%)Review, write, and update students' Individualized Language Plans in conjunction with families yearly per EEOA requirements. (10%)Provide effective instruction that is centered around the WIDA English Language Development (ELD) framework centered around the WIDA can do descriptors. (50%)Better understand what students at different levels of language proficiency can do with languageExpand their understanding of what the process of language development can look likeCollaborate about scaffolding students need to engage in content-area learning and develop language at the same timeDifferentiate instruction and classroom assessment for languageInterpret ACCESS for ELLs test scoresRecord grades using the corporation electronic grade book (PowerSchool), and maintain accurate and complete records of student's progress and attendance accurately and completely, as required by law, corporation policies, and school regulations. (12%)Collaborate with grade-level and subject-specific colleagues in weekly professional learning communities (PLC). (2%)Create and administer a weekly summative and formative assessment to support data collection and inform best instructional strategies. (1%)Attend and engage in professional development required by the IDOE to maintain professional educator license. (2%)Design and implement classroom management systems to ensure the safety of students and equipment. (2%)Communicate with student families about students' academic and behavioral progress/ standings, including family conferences. (3%)Educator Evaluation Student learning objective.
