Psychiatric Physician Assistant Part Time Contingent
Benefits: Flexible schedule About the Opportunity KARE CENTER in Ann Arbor, MI is seeking a motivated and compassionate Psychiatric Physician Assistant (Psych PA) to join our expanding behavioral health team. In this role, you will conduct psychiatric evaluations, provide medication management, and deliver evidence-based mental health care under the collaborative supervision of our attending psychiatrists. You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, therapists, and social workers to deliver comprehensive, integrated, patient-centered care. Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations including diagnostic interviews, mental status examinations, and risk assessments. Diagnose and manage a broad spectrum of psychiatric disorders including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, PTSD, and substance use disorders. Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications, adjusting treatment plans based on patient response and clinical outcomes. Provide brief supportive therapy and psychoeducation to patients and families. Collaborate closely with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and primary care providers to deliver coordinated, holistic care. Conduct follow-up appointments to monitor medication efficacy, side effects, and overall patient well-being. Manage psychiatric crises including risk assessment, safety planning, and coordination of higher levels of care when needed. Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough clinical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR). Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case consultations, and quality improvement activities. Qualifications & Requirements Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an ARC-PA accredited program. Current NCCPA certification (PA-C) and active Michigan PA license (or eligibility to obtain). 1-3 years of clinical experience in psychiatry, behavioral health, or mental health preferred. DEA registration (or eligibility to obtain) for prescribing controlled substances. Training or experience in psychopharmacology and evidence-based psychiatric care. Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems. Strong interpersonal skills with a patient-centered, compassionate approach. Why KARE CENTER?
