JOB SUMMARY:Servers are responsible for positive guest interactions while serving guests in a friendly and efficient manner. Provide friendly, attentive and timely service to create an exceptional dining experience at Moody Gardens. At all times servers are expected to be attentive to our guest needs and make them feel welcome, comfortable, important and relaxed.POSITION AUTHORITY:The incumbent is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities, provided such action is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below.POSITION GUIDELINES:Position guidelines include, but are not limited to, established company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives. The incumbent is expected to exercise sound, reasonable judgment and initiative, and give high priority to accuracy and details in the performance of job responsibilities.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Maintain a Guest focus while performing dutiesAssume 100% responsibility for quality guest experienceInform guests of specials and menu changesMake specific recommendations you feel your guests will enjoyAnswer questions about our food, beverages and other restaurant functions and servicesTake food and beverage orders from guests and enter orders in our point-of-sales system before taking item to the tableDeliver food and beverages from kitchen and bar to guests in a timely matterPre-bus tables between each coursePerform side work during each shift as required by service stations assignmentComplete opening and closing checklistsMaintain clean and stocked service and dining areasMonitor and observe guests dining experience to ensure guests are satisfied with the food and serviceRespond promptly and courteously to any requestsProvide proactive beverage and bread refillsPrepare final bill, present check to guest, accept payment, and process through the POS systemReturn change to the guest quicklyBe ready and willing to assist fellow servers before they askThank guests for their visit and invite them to returnAttends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvementNotify manager-on-duty any time a guest is not 100% satisfied with their experienceAny and all other duties as assigned; duties are subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve the needs of Moody GardensEDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:No prior experience requiredMust obtain TABC & Food Handlers Certification prior to beginning workREQUIRED SKILLS:Must possess a positive attitude and work well with other team membersMust be able to handle money and operate point-of-sale systemBe willing to follow direction and ask questions for clarification if neededMust be reliable and responsibleAbility to exhibit maturity in the workplace and have a cooperative attitudeAbility to work in a fast paced restaurant environmentPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to safely lift and easily maneuver trays of food frequently weighing up to 25 poundsAbility to grasp, lift, push, pull, or otherwise move up to 50 poundsAbility to remain on feet standing and walking for entire shift
