JOB SUMMARY:The Shearns Server is responsible for order taking and delivery of any food and beverage items to guests. This task is to be handled in a friendly, courteous, helpful, timely, and professional manner resulting in a very high level of guest satisfaction.POSITION AUTHORITY:The incumbent is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities, provided such action is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below.POSITION GUIDELINES:Position guidelines include, but are not limited to, established company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives. The incumbent is expected to exercise sound, reasonable judgment and initiative, and give high priority to accuracy and details in the performance of job responsibilities.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Check station before, during, and after shift for proper set-up and cleanlinessGreet guests in a friendly and courteous manner and explain any specials or restaurant promotions for guest awarenessRecord the details of the order from the guests, repeating the order to the guest to check for accuracyWhen complete, retrieve order from the kitchen, confirming its accuracy, lift, and deliver it to the guests along with appropriate condimentsReplenish beverages as necessary and check with guests for overall satisfactionMarket and serve any dessert items, or specialty coffeesAssist the server Assistants in clearing and resetting the tablesPerform all side work including replenishing condiments and restocking side standsAny and all other duties as assigned; duties are subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve the needs of Moody GardensEDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:1-2 years prior Fine Dining experience preferredMust obtain TABC & Food Handlers Certification prior to beginning workREQUIRED SKILLS:Must be reliable and responsibleMust have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation, service standards, guest relations, and etiquetteKnowledge of the appropriate table settings, service ware, and menu itemsAbility to read, write, and speak in English sufficient to understand menus, special promotions, record orders, and communicate with guests to explainAbility to remember, recite, and promote a variety of menu itemsAbility to operate beverage equipmentAbility to operate a keyboard and learn the POS systemPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to transport large trays weighing up to 30 pounds through a crowded room on a continuous basis throughout the shiftAbility to move or push goods on a hand card weighing a maximum of 200 poundsAbility to stand, and/or walk continuously throughout shiftAbility to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, and kneeling
