As a member of our team, you'll have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of patients while enjoying competitive pay, comprehensive benefits, and the support of a dedicated clinical team.Required Qualifications:One year of recent experience as a Pediatric ER RNValid RN license in compliance with state regulationsCurrent BLS (AHA/ARC) CertificationPALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC CertificationPreferred Qualifications:NRP CertificationOther certifications and licenses may be required for this positionSummary:The Pediatric ER RN provides comprehensive emergency care to pediatric patients in a fast-paced clinical setting. This role involves assessing pediatric patient health, administering emergency treatments, and collaborating with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care for children and adolescents. The Pediatric ER RN demonstrates advanced clinical skills, effective communication with children and families, and adherence to the highest standards of patient safety, ethics, and professional excellence in emergency situations.Essential Work Functions:Explains emergency procedures and treatments to pediatric patients and their families in an age-appropriate manner to foster understanding and alleviate fearAdministers prescribed and emergent medications and treatments in accordance with approved pediatric nursing techniques and emergency protocolsPrepare and operate pediatric-specific emergency equipment, assisting physicians during treatments, procedures, and examinationsEnsure the comfort and safety of pediatric patients in the emergency setting, employing age-appropriate techniques and minimizing distressPerform pediatric vital sign assessments, using tools such as Broselow tape for weight-based measurements, and respond promptly to deviations from normalRespond promptly to pediatric emergencies, such as respiratory distress, trauma, or cardiac arrestAccurately document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the medical recordsCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, and social workers, to provide comprehensive careCollaborate with families to develop and implement care plans that address the unique needs of pediatric patientsParticipate in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing pediatric patient care and outcomesPerform other duties as assigned within the scope of practiceAdhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standardsRequired Essential Skills:Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skillsThe ability to read, write, & communicate in the English language is requiredAbility to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skillsPhysical Abilities - Remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), pushing, pulling, bendingInterpersonal Skills - To work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalismTechnical/Motor Skills - Ability to grasp, fine manipulation, pushing/pulling and able to move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment.Mental Requirements - Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public, customers, and meeting deadlines under pressure. Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally as well as working without assistance from other personnel.
