Details Work in the Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) of an acute care hospital setting Patient population includes post open heart recovery, thoracotomies, esophagogastrectomies, and TAVR cases Patient ratios: 1:1 on nights, 2:1 on weekends Specialized procedures and equipment include ECMO, IABP, Impella, CRRT, LVAD/RVAD, pulmonary artery/Swan-Ganz monitoring, and arterial line management Documents using Epic; medications dispensed via Pyxis Night shift: 18:45-07:15 (3x12-hour shifts) Every other weekend required Floating is required 13-week contract minimum; longer contracts are available 36 or 48 hours per week may be available Local candidates are accepted Requirements Active NC or compact RN license required Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS Minimum 2 years of critical care (CC) experience required CVICU or open heart experience required Required skills include: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, ECMO, IABP, post cardiac surgery care (direct from OR), Swan-Ganz/PA line monitoring, TAVR, LVAD/RVAD management, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, continuous IV sedation, cardiac drip titration, ventilated patient care, ABG interpretation, and isolation precautions/PPE Must pass EKG testing prior to start Additional Information Preferred skills include: port access and management, vasoactive drip titration, chest tube insertion/removal assistance, BiPAP/CPAP management, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), and ventilator management Self-scheduling unit Orientation includes hospital orientation during week one — candidate must be available for classes each day Navy and/or white scrubs required First-time travelers will not be considered for this position American Traveler Job ID P-685805.
