Tutors work one-on-one or in small groups to reinforce course material, build confidence, and strengthen understanding of key concepts to help athletes succeed in their classes.Job SummaryTutor student athletesJob DutiesRole and ResponsibilitiesTutors in the Athletic Student Services department support the academic success of student-athletes by providing subject-specific tutoring in the Academic Learning Center. Tutors assist with understanding course material, assignments, and study strategies to reinforce classroom learning.Responsibilities include:Provide scheduled one-on-one or small group tutoring to assigned student-athletes in designated subject areas.Help student-athletes understand course concepts, review assignments, and work through academic problems.Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to FERPA guidelines.Uphold academic integrity and follow all Athletic Student Services and NCAA regulations during tutoring sessions.Submit required session documentation and provide updates on student-athlete academic progress.Follow all Academic Learning Center policies and collaborate respectfully with staff.Attend required staff meetings and gather relevant course materials to support effective tutoring.QualificationsAbility to work effectively with a diverse student-athlete populationStrong knowledge in one or more academic subject areasStrong written and verbal communication skillsRequired EducationHigh School diploma or equivalent. Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Wichita State University.Additional RequirementsMust have completed and demonstrate proficiency in Physics, with proof of coursework available upon request.Required ExperienceThis is specific to each position and department.
