Job Title: OSP Technical ManagerLocation: Austin, TX (Hybrid)Duration: 6+ Month ContractPosition OverviewThe OSP Technical Manager will support Google Fiber's Southwest Region Engineering team by managing third-party OSP engineering vendors responsible for fiber network expansion and network relocation projects.This role focuses on vendor management, project execution, engineering quality review, and schedule management rather than performing OSP design work. The successful candidate will oversee engineering deliverables, ensure adherence to project timelines and SLAs, and collaborate with internal engineering, construction, municipalities, and utility stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.Key ResponsibilitiesManage external OSP engineering vendors delivering fiber engineering packages.Review engineering deliverables for quality, constructability, and completeness.Ensure vendor compliance with project schedules, milestones, and SLAs.Support forward-build and utility relocation projects from planning through as-built completion.Coordinate engineering activities with internal construction teams, municipalities, DOT agencies, and utility stakeholders.Track project progress, identify deficiencies, and manage engineering change requests.Hold vendors accountable for engineering quality, schedule commitments, and project performance.Participate in constructability reviews to ensure proposed designs are practical and buildable.Support project documentation, permitting activities, cutover coordination, and closeout documentation.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.3–5 years of OSP Engineering or OSP Construction experience.3–5 years of Project or Program Management experience.Experience managing engineering vendors or engineering service providers.Strong understanding of GPON architecture and fiber optic network design principles.Knowledge of fiber network hierarchy from Central Office (CO)/Hut to customer premises.Ability to read and interpret:OSP construction drawingsFiber splice diagramsEngineering design packagesUtility relocation plansExperience managing multiple concurrent infrastructure projects.Strong communication, stakeholder management, and organizational skills.Preferred QualificationsGIS experience.Utility relocation project experience.Fiber network migration or cutover experience.Permitting and municipal coordination experience.Experience reviewing directional drilling plans, bore profiles, and route designs.Previous experience supporting telecom or broadband infrastructure deployment.Required SkillsOSP EngineeringOSP ConstructionGPONFiber Optic NetworksVendor ManagementProgram ManagementProject ManagementEngineering Quality AssuranceConstructability ReviewFiber Splicing DocumentationUtility RelocationPermittingStakeholder ManagementRisk ManagementChange ManagementSchedule ManagementSLA Management
