This position assists teachers in implementing instructional activities and individualized supports to promote student learning, independence, and success.Primary PurposeAssist teachers in implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and providing instructional and behavioral support to students with disabilities in compliance with Texas Education Agency (TEA) and Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) requirements.QualificationsEducation / Certification:High school diploma or GED requiredAbility to obtain a Texas Educational Aide Certificate (certification may be obtained through the District)Completion of the ParaSkills Course through STEDI.org (course will be purchased by the District)Special Knowledge / Skills: Ability to work effectively with students with diverse learning, behavioral, and physical needsKnowledge of behavior support strategies preferredAbility to follow instructional plans and teacher directionStrong communication and teamwork skillsAbility to maintain confidentiality and professionalismExperience: Experience working with students with disabilities preferredExperience in an educational setting preferredMajor Responsibilities and DutiesInstructional Support Assist with implementation of IEP goals, accommodations, and modificationsWork with individual students or small groups to reinforce academic skillsSupport instructional activities and classroom routinesBehavior & Safety Support Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) as directedMonitor students to ensure safety during classroom activities and transitionsAssist teachers with maintaining a structured learning environmentPersonal Care & Physical Support (if required) Assist students with mobility, hygiene, feeding, or other personal care needs as necessarySupport students during arrival, dismissal, lunch, and campus transitionsClassroom & Administrative Support Prepare instructional materials and maintain classroom organizationAssist with data collection related to student progress and IEP goalsProvide support to substitute teachers and related service providersProfessional Responsibilities Participate in staff development and required special education trainingCollaborate with teachers, therapists, administrators, and familiesPerform other duties as assigned by campus administrationWorking ConditionsPhysical Demands: Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and assisting studentsAbility to assist with student mobility or positioning if requiredMental Demands: Ability to maintain emotional control and patience in a structured special education environmentWhy Join Greenville ISD Support students with unique learning needsWork in a collaborative special education teamReceive district-supported training and certificationMake a meaningful impact on student independence and success
