Job DescriptionJob Title: Fire Protection Design EngineerLocation: Seattle, WAZip Code: 98101Duration:12 MonthsPay Rate: $ 76.24/hrKeyword's: #Seattlejobs; #Engineerjobs.Start Date: ImmediateJob Description:Summary:We're looking for an outstanding Fire Protection Design Engineer who combines superb technical and analytical capabilities with a demonstrated ability to get the right things done quickly and effectively. This person must be capable of implementing standardized Fire Protection Systems (fire suppression, fire detection / alarm) design and related building/fire code compliance analysis for AWS Data Centers and their supporting facilities. The ideal candidate will have a foundation in fire protection and/or mechanical engineering suited for building fire protection system design, construction and/or operations. To ensure the long term success in this role, the ideal candidate must a self-starter, fast learner, be adaptive to fast pace working environment with multiple priorities.KEY RESPONSIBLITIES: (with Sr. Fire Protection Engineer oversight)Working with third party design vendors and internal stakeholders to develop and review designs in progress to ensure they meet established owner"s design standards, code requirements, local AHJ"s requirements;Interdisciplinary coordination of fire protection systems design elements and fire safety code compliance elementsCoordinating with construction, commissioning, and risk management teams to answer requests for information and value engineering queries;Development and oversight of construction documents, code compliance, design and installation standards, water supply evaluation and assessment, testing, inspections, and submittal review.Attend meeting with AHJs to document meeting discussion;Review of Fire Suppression and Fire Alarm System Construction Submittals (shop drawings, calculations, product data) and research / answer RFIs;Review and update internal template design documents for efficient design and approval processes.REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCESLicensed professional engineer in fire protection engineeringCumulative of 5+ years of experience in design engineering or the construction industry, related to fire protection engineering, including fire suppression systems, fire alarm and detection systems, fire-resistive construction, fire safety code compliances.Experience applying local codes, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards, International Code Council (ICC) requirements, and other fire protection industry standards, procedures and methodologiesExperience in building/fire code compliance related to lithium-ion battery storage and energy storage systemsExperience with processes of design reviews, specification, development of design standards and submittal reviewsExperience with construction documentations (design drawings, controls diagrams, specifications, etc) for all tradesStrong communication and writing skillsFamiliar with Office Suite (e.g. word, powerpoint, excel, outlook, etc. )PREFERRED SKILLSExperience directly with related construction of data centers, critical medical, industrial, construction, oil and gas, or large-scale mechanical and power systems.Experience with Code Modification Requests (CMRs) and Alternate Materials and Methods (AMM) proposalsExperience with fire marshal, fire plans examiners, fire inspector or authority having jurisdictions.Experience with software related to fire protection system design Revit, AutoCAD, Fire Dynamic Simulation, SprinkCALC, AutoSPRINK etc.Belcan is an equal opportunity employer.
