Full-Stack Software Engineer
Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. DealerCX does not provide visa sponsorship or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this role.
*The opportunity*
We are building a multi-tenant automotive dealership platform that brings together CRM workflows, dealer operations, integrations, and AI-enabled experiences. Our stack is TypeScript end-to-end (React on the frontend, Node.js on the backend) on top of PostgreSQL. We are looking for a Full-Stack Engineer who wants to own features end-to-end, from the interface a dealer sees to the API and database behind it.
The work is practical and customer-facing: building workflows for leads, deals, service, messaging, reporting, and related dealership operations while keeping the platform secure, reliable, and maintainable.
*How we work*
We are a fully remote team, and most of our collaboration happens asynchronously in writing — in pull requests, tickets, and design docs. That means:
* Strong written communication: you can explain a technical decision or ask a clear question without needing a meeting.
* Comfort with async handoffs across time zones, rather than expecting real-time answers.
* Willingness to join video calls (camera on) for standups, pairing, and design discussions when synchronous conversation is the right tool.
We're looking for someone who can work independently for long stretches, but who also shows up clearly — in writing and on camera — when the team needs to align.
We also lean heavily into AI-assisted software development as a core part of how we build. Our engineers use AI coding tools and agents daily to plan, implement, and review changes, and we're looking for someone who wants to work that way, not just tolerate it.
*What you will do*
* Deliver end-to-end product features across web user interfaces, backend services, and relational data.
* Build clear, accessible, and responsive dealer-facing experiences.
* Design and extend secure APIs with appropriate access controls and auditability.
* Write and evolve safe database migrations and data models.
* Build reliable integrations with external systems (dealer-management systems, credit workflows, SMS providers, asynchronous processing) with proper validation, idempotency, retries, and observable failure handling.
* Build AI-enabled features, including tool-backed workflows and streaming user experiences, as a core part of the product.
* Add focused automated tests and use continuous integration and code review to deliver reliable changes.
*What you bring*
* Professional experience building production web applications with TypeScript and React.
* Experience building and consuming HTTP APIs with Node.js or a similar backend runtime.
* Working knowledge of PostgreSQL or another relational database, SQL, schema migrations, and an ORM or equivalent data-access approach.
* Comfort tracing a feature across user interface, backend, tests, and database layers.
* Experience writing automated tests and using pull-request-based development workflows.
* Care with authentication, authorization, multi-tenant data isolation, and integration failure handling.
* Comfort working async on a distributed, camera-on remote team, with strong written and verbal communication.
* Genuine enthusiasm for AI-assisted development: daily use of AI coding tools/agents as part of how you plan, write, and review code, not just occasional use.
*Helpful experience*
* Azure services, infrastructure as code, containerized deployments, or continuous delivery.
* Third-party integrations, webhooks, queues, retries, or idempotent processing.
* LLM or agent-enabled product features, including tool calling and observability.
* Exposure to training or fine-tuning ML models, or working in ML notebooks (e.g., Jupyter).
* Automotive retail, CRM, finance, service, communications, or other workflow-heavy B2B software.
* Design systems, accessibility testing, Storybook, or component-library contributions.
* SOAP, XML, or legacy enterprise-system integrations.
*What success looks like*
In your first few months, you will be able to take a product slice from implementation through review and delivery: understand the relevant workflow and existing conventions, make a safe service and data-model change, build the associated user experience, add meaningful coverage, and respond effectively to review and CI feedback.
Over time, you will become a trusted owner for a product area and help improve the reliability, usability, and maintainability of the platform's integrations and workflows.
Don't meet every point above? We'd still like to hear from you if you're excited about this work.
