Senior, Learning and Event Technology Specialist

Job DescriptionWe are seeking a highly skilled Senior AV/IT Field Engineer to join our Learning & Event Technology Services team. This is a hands-on, onsite role responsible for installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and supporting advanced audiovisual (AV) and IT systems across a large campus environment.The ideal candidate will have deep experience in AV systems engineering, strong networking fundamentals, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams, vendors, and stakeholders.Key ResponsibilitiesInstall, configure, and troubleshoot AV/IT systems including control systems, audio, video, and networking componentsProvide advanced support for classroom, conference, and event technology environmentsPerform system commissioning, testing, and validationSupport and maintain Zoom Rooms and Microsoft Teams RoomsConfigure and troubleshoot DSP systems (Biamp preferred) and Dante audio networksWork with AV over IP (AVoIP) systems and implement Quality of Service (QoS)Read and interpret system schematics, CAD drawings, and technical documentationInterface with vendors, integrators, consultants, and contractorsParticipate in projects as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) or Technical LeadMaintain accurate documentation, service records, and system updatesProvide excellent customer support to faculty, staff, and end usersRequired Qualifications:8+ years of experience in AV/IT support or field engineering rolesBachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience)Strong hands-on experience with AV system installation and troubleshootingExperience with cabling, rack builds, and hardware integrationValid driver’s licenseAbility to lift up to 75 lbsTechnical Skills:Crestron programming and troubleshooting (SIMPL, HTML5 preferred)Virtual Control (VC-4), Linux basicsDSP configuration (Biamp preferred)Dante configuration and audio networkingAudio commissioning and sound system tuningAV over IP (AVoIP) and QoSAV networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, LAN/WLAN)RS-232 and control systemsZoom Rooms and Microsoft Teams Rooms setup/configurationDigital signage platforms (Appspace or similar)Enterprise AV management tools (Crestron XIO, Fusion)Ticketing systems (ServiceNow or similar)Preferred Skills:Experience with Extron, AMX control systemsScripting (PowerShell, Bash, or similar)Knowledge of video streaming protocols (RTP, RTSP, HLS, RTMP)Experience with media platforms (Kaltura, Echo360)Database familiarity (SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle)AVIXA CTS or CTS-I certificationSoft Skills:Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilitiesExcellent communication and customer service skillsAbility to work independently and in team environmentsComfortable working in fast-paced, high-pressure situationsStrong organizational and documentation skillsWork Environment:Onsite role in Brookline, MAMay require occasional evening, weekend, or holiday supportBenefits:Competitive salary and benefits packagePaid time off and holidaysRetirement planTuition assistanceProfessional development opportunitiesApply now to join a dynamic team supporting cutting-edge AV and IT technology in a world-class academic environment.
