Attendance/Front Office Secretary

POSITION: ATTENDANCE/FRONT OFFICE SECRETARY ~ VERNAL MIDDLE SCHOOLFull-Time position, 205-day Contract with BenefitsApplicant must be 21 years or olderDistrict Expectations/Responsibilities For School SecretaryReceives and greets the public, welcomes visitors, new students, parents, provide assistance in a professional and friendly manner;Maintain a welcoming, safe and respectful tone in all interaction, and a professional environment;Handle sensitive situations with discretion, empathy and professionalism;Build positive relationships with families and staff to support student success;Strong organization and time-management skills;Communicate clearly and effectively with parents/guardians regarding attendance concerns and school procedures;Enforce School/District Attendance Policies;Maintain accurate daily attendance records and communication absences/tardies;Contact parents/guardians via phone, email, or messaging system to confirm student absences;Manage secure entry procedures, including visitor check-in and identification;Maintain accurate and confidential student health and medical records in compliance with FERPA and district policies;Coordinate with the school nurse and administration to ensure proper care and documentation;Assist with Health Care Plans and Medication Dispersion, & Accident Reports;Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student health issues and accidents during school hours;Administer first aid notifies parent and cares for students;Assist during drills and emergency situations (lockdowns, evacuations, etc.)Answers telephone takes and delivers messages for principals, teachers, staff, and students, etc.;Follow district and state policies regarding student confidentiality;Distributes daily incoming mail and may be assigned to go to post office or district office to collect mail;Generate attendance reports for administrators, teachers, and district;Prepare and finalize attendance records for the school year;Verify accuracy of student attendance and data reporting to the district and state;Archive attendance and health records according to district retention policies;Work under the direct supervision of the school principal;Other duties as assigned by supervisor;QualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalent;Past secretarial experience;Type speed of 50 wpm or more;Strong organizational and time management skills;Proficiency in office software and student information systems;Strong interpersonal and customer service skills;Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations professionally;Your application will be complete when you provide the following:Completed ApplicationCopies of college transcript(s) if available;Cover letter explaining clearly how you qualify/meet district expectations for the position;A minimum of three letters of recommendation, including at least one from a direct supervisor (does not have to be a current supervisor), which address candidate's skills at working effectively with students, parents, staff and community members.Current type test (within past two years) verifying 50 wpm type speed.Complete Applications Will Be Given Preferred ConsiderationSALARY: As per district Salary ScheduleDEADLINE FOR APPLYING: Open until filledBEGINNING DATE: August 2026/2027 School Year
