Fiber Optic Splicing TechnicianLocation: Quakertown, PA| Field-BasedOur client, a leader in telecommunications infrastructure and fiber optic network services, is seeking a skilled Fiber Optic Splicing Technician to join their growing field operations team in Pennsylvania. This is a full-time, onsite opportunity supporting outside plant (OSP) fiber optic construction, splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and network restoration projects.Do you have hands-on experience with fiber optic fusion splicing and OTDR testing? Our client is looking for someone who can confidently perform high-level splicing work, troubleshoot outages, support emergency restorations, and help ensure reliable network connectivity for customers. You'll also mentor lower-level technicians while working closely with field teams, management, and network operations personnel to complete projects safely and efficiently.Responsibilities include:Perform fusion splicing on OSP, ADSS, and OPGW fiber optic cablesComplete fiber terminations, ring cuts, and splice enclosure buildsConduct OTDR testing, power meter testing, and fiber characterizationTroubleshoot signal loss, continuity issues, and network outagesWork on aerial and underground fiber optic plant construction projectsPerform bucket truck work, including lowering slack coils and hanging splice enclosuresInstall VCBS and BRCS systemsRead and follow splice diagrams accuratelyWork within live traffic trays without disrupting existing servicePerform ribbon splicing and high-count fiber splicingAssist with emergency callouts and service restoration effortsCommunicate with NOC teams during troubleshooting and outage eventsDocument work completed through Daily Performance Reports (DPRs)Train and mentor lower-level fiber techniciansFollow all company safety procedures and OSHA requirementsCollaborate with customers and internal teams to resolve issues efficientlyRequirements and Qualifications:3+ years of experience in Outside Plant fiber optic fusion splicing and testingCFOT certification through FOA requiredMinimum 24 fibers spliced per hour; ability to complete a 48F butt splice within 4 hoursProficiency with OTDRPrior experience with ring cuts, mid-sheath entries, and ribbon splicing; ability to work live without causing damage or outagesExperience with emergency restoration calls; ability to work with NOC on bridge/restoration callsAbility to lift 75+ pounds regularlyStrong communication and teamwork skillsMust pass a pre-employment drug screening and participate in random drug testingAbility to start at 6:30 AM to whenever you're finished at your last job for the day (Typically 8-10 hour days with 45-55/total hours per week)Availability for on-call schedules, overtime, weekends, and holidaysAbout the Hiring Company:Our client is a telecommunications infrastructure company focused on delivering high-quality fiber optic construction, splicing, and network support services.
