This role is responsible for grant accounting, accounts receivable, month‑end close activities, and account reconciliations to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with funding requirements. The Accountant works closely with program leadership, finance staff, and external funding partners to support QCC’s mission of improving access to quality child care.Key Responsibilities:Grant AccountingSet up, maintain, and manage grant budgets within QCC’s accounting systemTrack and monitor grant expenditures to ensure compliance with grant agreements and funding regulationsReview expenses for allowability, allocability, and proper documentationPrepare grant financial reports, reimbursement requests, and closeout documentationSupport grant monitoring, audits, and reviews by fundersCollaborate with program staff to ensure financial information aligns with program activities and reportingAccounts ReceivablePrepare and submit grant-related billings, drawdowns, and reimbursement requestsTrack grant receivables and monitor aging schedulesRecord and apply cash receipts accuratelyFollow up on outstanding receivables and resolve discrepancies in a timely mannerMaintain organized documentation supporting receivables and collectionsMonth-End Close & General LedgerPrepare and post month-end journal entries, including grant-related accruals and adjustmentsAssist with monthly and year-end close processesEnsure transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with GAAPSupport the preparation of internal financial statements and reportsReconciliationsPerform monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, including grants, receivables, and deferred revenueInvestigate and resolve reconciling items promptlyMaintain clear and thorough documentation to support reconciliationsEducation, Knowledge, Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field3–5 years of accounting experience; nonprofit and grant accounting experience strongly preferredExperience with accounts receivable, month-end close, and reconciliationsKnowledge of grant compliance requirements (federal, state, or private grants)Strong Excel and accounting software skillsExcellent attention to detail and organizational skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environmentPreferred Experience & Skills: Experience working with government-funded grants and contractsFamiliarity with federal grant regulations (Uniform Guidance, 2 CFR Part 200)Experience supporting audits and funder reviewsAbility to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance staffCommitment to QCC’s mission and valuesExperience using Financial Edge NXT (Blackbaud)Working ConditionsOffice-based position with potential for hybrid workDeadline-driven environment tied to grant reporting and month-end close cyclesDisclaimer:This job requisition provides a high-level job definition.
