First shift – M – F, 7 am – 3:30 pmWhat You Will DoWork closely with 10-20 other Composite Technicians under the supervision of a working Lead and Production Supervisor to bring essential naval products to lifeJudgments and decisions at this level are guided by clearly described procedures and instructions, and the work consists of recurring steps involved in the assembly of parts, subassemblies, and larger componentsPerform tasks by following clearly described procedures and instructions, and the work consists of recurring steps involved in the assembly of parts, subassemblies, and larger componentsPerform casting of materials to fabricate parts and/or for repair applications using products and processes which are varied but generally not complex in scopeLoad and operate presses, ovens, and autoclavesAdheres to equipment requirements and the method and sequences of operation to be followed in fabrication of parts using materials such as polyurethane, fiberglass, epoxy resins, and like materialsLayup, composites/Rubber and like material on a variety of molds and surfaces. Verify work to ensure a defect free part prior to presenting to quality control (inspection)Provide specialized technical assistance and interact with team members to implement solutionsOperate large manual, electric & pneumatic tools in the assembly and disassembly of large heavy steel structures, molds and fixturesRead and interpret standard work to perform necessary tasksBe able to identify tooling and materials compatible with the processing techniques identified in the work instructionsApply skill in the use of production toolsBe available for overtime when required to meet project scheduleCross-train within the department and support various manufacturing operationsWill frequently lift parts and equipment that weigh up to 20 pounds.
