Principal, Software Development Engineer
Overview:
As Principal Software Engineer at Cotality, you lead the AI-first engineering strategy across the Araya platform and SaaS portfolio, delivering scalable, AI-powered experiences. You shape technical direction, mentor engineers, and drive integration of agentic AI into product workflows. You collaborate with cross-functional leaders to define architecture and accelerate engineering productivity. This role offers impact at scale within a fast-moving, innovation-focused environment. Responsibilities:
- Lead design and development of scalable enterprise-grade apps across the Araya platform and SaaS ecosystem
- Drive integration of agentic AI capabilities into existing products and workflows
- Champion AI-first practices using AI tools, agents, and automation throughout development
- Partner with Product, Architecture, and Engineering leaders to define technical strategy and architectural decisions
- Design and implement high-quality, maintainable solutions using Java and cloud-native tech
- Build reusable AI skills, agents, and frameworks for organization-wide reuse
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, paired development, and knowledge sharing
- Improve system reliability, security, scalability, and performance; guide rapid production issue resolution
Key requirements:
- 10+ years of progressive software engineering experience building enterprise-scale applications
- Deep expertise in Java and modern software engineering practices (distributed systems, API development, cloud-native architectures)
- Proven experience delivering large-scale SaaS products in fast-paced environments
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools and AI-first development practices
- Strong systems thinking to translate business problems into scalable technical solutions
- Demonstrated success leading technical initiatives and architectural decisions across complex organizationsleadership and mentoringcross-functional collaborationstrong communication
