Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.FACILITIES TECHNICIAN - TEMPORARYResponsibilitiesPerform routine building maintenance tasks, including non-technical troubleshooting and repair of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and/or carpentry requestsConduct site-wide maintenance to our facilities, including painting, patching walls, replacing ceiling/flooring tiles, and carpetPerform inspections and repairs to assigned site interior and exterior areas, including walls, floors, installed fixtures, roofing systems, and lightingAid janitorial and hospitality staff with general requests for support, including moving furniture, racks/equipment, disposing of garbage using forklifted dumpster bins, and set-up and tear down of special event areasManage other campus-wide operations and maintenance programs as assigned by facilities managementOperate forklifts, scissor lifts, and boom lifts when neededOpen, track, and resolve electronic work tickets on SpaceX’s custom work order systemAdhere to proper safety guidelines at all timesPosition DetailsThis is a temporary position with SpaceX, for the length of time as stated, and is subject to change with minimal notice as business needs dictate.LENGTH OF POSITION: 6 months (permanent hire conversion based on performance and business need)LOCATION: Brownsville, TXBasic QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalency certificate2+ years of facilities maintenance experiencePreferred Skills And ExperienceExperience in construction, project management, equipment maintenance, and tenant improvementsExperience with plumbing systems, backflows, lift stations, sewer machines, and pumpsExperience with concrete, forming, and pouringExperience with engineering and construction principles, methods, and codesExperience with industrial compressed air systems and maintenanceExperience with carpentry maintenance tasks, including routine sheetrock/drywall installation and/or repair, window replacement, cabinet/countertop replacement, painting/texturing (interior and exterior), and door/hardware installationAbility to read instructions and blueprintsExperience with project management software, MS Excel, Word, or other project tracking softwareStrong written and verbal communication skills - MS Outlook and TeamsAbility to understand and follow specific instructions and proceduresSelf-motivated, works well with others and autonomouslySafety training and use of forklifts, scissor lifts, cranes & hoists, and fall protection equipmentAdditional RequirementsMust be able to work all shifts and available for overtime, weekends and holiday as neededValid Texas driver's licenseStand: Up to 10 hours per day Sit: Up to 3 hours per dayPush/Pull: Up to 75lbs. (unassisted) 2 hours or longer per day Overhead reach: Up to 1 hour per day Walk: Up to 6 hours per day Lift/Carry: Up to 50lbs. (unassisted) 2 hours or longer per day Climb (ladder/stairs): up to 3 hours per day Kneel/Crouch: up to 1 hour per day Upper body twist: Up to 6 hours per day Ability to work in temperatures over 80 degrees: up to 3 hours per day Candidate must be capable of safely working at heights (up to 500ft), in confined spaces, using an air purifying respirator, and performing the physical requirements of the job listed in the job description.
