The Eagan Art House is a community visual art learning center offering a wide variety of summer camps for youth and teens.This position will assist with summer camps for ages 6-8, 9-11, and 11+. Art Camp Team Leaders will also develop activities and lead daily Lunch Bunch for all day campers.Interviews for this position will begin on March 19. Offers of employment will be made by April 8.Required Staff Trainings and Hours:Art House Summer Camp team works Monday - Thursday daytime hours with occasional Friday hours.Staff Open House: May 20, 4:00pm - 5:30pmLeadership Training: May 27, 5:00pm - 6:30pmCPR Training: June 2, 5, or 12.Onsite Staff Training: June 8 - 10, 9:00am to Noon, and June 11, 9:00am - 3:00pm (lunch provided).Programs run June 15 through August 27; some evening and weekend hours may be available.City holidays are June 19 and July 4.Can't work the whole summer?That's okay - please still apply and let's chat! We want staff to have some flexibility to take on other adventures throughout the summer while still serving our community's needs.A few things to keep in mind:All staff are expected to be a part of mandatory staff training on June 8-11.Hiring preference is given to staff who can commit to more weeks of the full summer. Please share dates you may or will need off before or during your interview.Most leadership positions require a full season commitment.Essential Position FunctionsAssist Eagan Art House teaching artists with summer art camps.Keep campers engaged in art activities.Plan, coordinate, and implement activities for daily Lunch Bunch.Create a welcoming environment for all students and their grown ups.Promote inclusivity and diversity in a community setting.Assist with set up, clean up, and use of facility, equipment and materials.Ability to relate to parents, program partners and general public in a professional and courteous manner.Assist with the supervision of program and participants.Make decisions and respond to questions and concerns relating to participants, programs, staff and the public.Respond to work direction.Responsible for his/her own transportation to program site.Assist with daily operations as needed.Minimum QualificationsJob seekers should be 18 years of age or older -OR- have one (1) year of experience in an arts or recreation setting.Valid Driver's License.Things that may help you be successful in this roleOne (1) year of college coursework and/or skills in art, recreation, education, or a closely related setting.Two (2) years of work of volunteer experience.Experience working or volunteering with children.Availability to work Monday - Thursday during the summer with occasional Friday hours.Ability to be conversational in a language other than English.CPR and First Aid Certifications.SupervisionThe Team Leader will be supervised by the Recreation Supervisor and be provided work direction from the Recreation Programmer, Recreation Specialist(s), and Program Assistant(s).Physical RequirementsWhile performing duties of the job the employee is regularly required to stand, talk, write, hear, balance, run, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, dance, sing and other movements in a variety of environments. Vision abilities required include close vision, distant vision, color vision and peripheral vision.
