Our team is responsible for deploying, maintaining, and scaling the servers and networking equipment that enable millions of developers to run their applications.From replacing a faulty drive to helping deploy infrastructure in a brand-new data center, our engineers work across the full lifecycle of hardware operations. You'll join a collaborative, fast-growing team with opportunities to work on large-scale deployments, new data center expansions, and next-generation infrastructure.This is a remote position.What You'll Be DoingDeploying, maintaining, and scaling DigitalOcean's data center infrastructureRacking, stacking, and cabling servers, power distribution units (PDUs), and network switchesInstalling and commissioning servers, networking equipment, storage systems, and GPU infrastructureDesigning and executing large-scale infrastructure deployments including rack buildouts and cluster expansionsSupporting new data center builds and expansions through rack layout planning and infrastructure readiness validationDeploying and troubleshooting high-density compute platforms including GPU and liquid-cooled infrastructureDiagnosing and repairing hardware issues across servers, networking equipment, and storage systemsDebugging hardware, network, and Linux OS related issuesSubmitting RMAs and managing hardware lifecycle replacements with equipment vendorsManaging shipping, receiving, and inventory tracking of data center hardware and componentsMaintaining deployment documentation, runbooks, and operational proceduresPartnering with internal engineering teams to support hardware rollouts and infrastructure upgradesSupporting operational readiness for new data center deploymentsParticipating in an on-call rotation to support infrastructure availabilityMentoring junior engineers and contributing to team developmentWhat You'll Add to DigitalOcean6-8+ years of experience deploying, operating, or supporting infrastructure within large-scale data center or cloud environments.Strong understanding of data center infrastructure including compute, networking, and storage systemsProficient understanding of data center power and cooling architectureExperience deploying and troubleshooting GPU hardware and high-density compute infrastructureExperience working with or supporting liquid-cooled infrastructureStrong Linux knowledge and command line experience; familiarity with bash scriptingStrong troubleshooting skills across hardware, networking, and operating systemsUnderstanding of data center cabling standards and deployment best practicesExperience supporting large-scale infrastructure deployments or data center expansionsAbility to analyze infrastructure incidents and drive operational improvementsStrong problem-solving skills and the ability to perform deep technical investigationsExperience maintaining deployment documentation and operational proceduresAbility to collaborate with cross-functional engineering teamsWillingness to participate in an on-call rotationValid driver's license and ability to travel domestically and internationally (20-25%)Ability to lift objects up to 50 lbs and be on your feet for extended periodsAbility to mentor and train junior engineersCompensation Range:* $128,000 - $161,000* This is a remote roleJR: 2026-7651#LI-RemoteWhy You'll Like Working for DigitalOceanWe innovate with purpose. The salary range for this position is based on market data, relevant years of experience, and skills. You may qualify for a bonus in addition to base salary; bonus amounts are determined based on company and individual performance.
