Senior Project Manager

Senior Manager / Director, Client ServicesWe are looking for a senior practitioner to join our client services team, advising on complex power and energy infrastructure projects across renewable generation (solar, wind, geothermal), energy storage, thermal power, fuels, and transmission.Our work is concentrated on complex, high-value decisions: project financings, acquisitions, and critical development milestones. You will be directly engaged with clients (developers, investors, and lenders) bringing independent technical judgment to high-stakes decisions across the project lifecycle. You will distill complex, often imperfect information into clear, defensible positions, and where getting it right is crucial.Your work will span technical, commercial, and financial due diligence, as well as broader advisory across development, financing, construction, and operations. Typical engagements include evaluating project designs and assumptions, assessing risks embedded in contracts and schedules, supporting investment and lending decisions, and providing ongoing construction and operational oversight. You will work across disciplines translating complex technical details into clear, decision-ready insights.We operate in small, experienced teams and minimal hierarchy. Senior staff are expected to take ownership of engagements, contribute to client relationships, and mentor junior staff, while also playing a role in shaping proposals and originating new work. This is a role for someone who values autonomy, accountability, and the opportunity to shape client and firm outcomes.Title will reflect experience, judgment, and demonstrated ability to lead engagements and client relationships.This role is ideally hybrid and office-based, with flexibility for highly qualified remote candidates. Periodic travel is required.ProfileDeep experience in power or energy infrastructure, typically 10+ yearsBackground in technical consulting, project development, engineering, or a closely related fieldStrong project management and team leadership experienceCommercial awareness: comfortable navigating contracts, counterparties, and project risk allocationAbility to synthesize technical, commercial, and financial inputs into clear recommendations and defend independent views under uncertaintyExperience supporting transactions, financings, or major project decisionsClear, concise communication, both written and verbalSelf-direction and sound professional judgment; comfortable operating in lean teamsFamiliarity with relevant codes, standards, and regulatory frameworksBachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent; advanced degree preferredProfessional licensure (e.g., PE) is valuedAbout LuminateLuminate is a Denver-based management consultancy focused on the technical, commercial, and environmental aspects of power and energy infrastructure.
