Quality Control Lab Technician

Celgard, LLC is seeking a Quality Control Technician to perform all duties associated with product quality testing in a plastic separator manufacturing facility, and to maintain the safe and secure operation of the quality lab on the night shift.
Job Description 12‑hour night shift (6pm – 6am)
Perform standard and/or non‑routine QC tests including physical and chemical testing
Maintain calibration status of equipment
Maintain accurate paper and electronic records of data and observations
Prepare and verify accuracy of data certificates for product shipments (COA)
Maintain QC document control (test procedures, calibration procedures, forms, etc.)
Collaborate with team members and cross‑functional teams; lead meetings
Communicate via telephone and e‑mail in a friendly, professional manner
Participate in employee involvement activities and ISO9000/TS16949 initiatives
Practice excellent safety and environmentally sound habits; plan safety into all work activities
Maintain a clean, organized lab that meets facility standards; participate in 5S activities; keep the lab “tour ready” at all times
Present to small groups and participate in customer and visitor tours of the lab and facility
Train new and current employees as needed
Maintain a professional and productive relationship with management and co‑workers
Utilize KPIs to gauge performance, identify improvement areas, and implement corrective actions
Collaborate with plant personnel from other departments to meet objectives
Use Lean Manufacturing Principles to ensure continual improvement
Maintain confidentiality of all Celgard information
Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
1+ years of hands‑on laboratory experience or Celgard operations experience (required); relevant advanced education or coursework may be considered
Preference for experience in a quality control lab performing chemical and physical testing for product release
Previous analytical or R&D lab experience preferred
Hands‑on experience working with polymer resins preferred
Experience documenting test results/observations required
Experience with an ISO‑certified system is a plus
Experience as an internal auditor in an ISO‑certified quality system is a plus
Proficient in MSOffice (Excel, Word, Outlook) – required
Good math skills and understanding of unit conversions (English/Metric) – required
Knowledge of basic statistical concepts desired
Knowledge of environmental system requirements preferred
Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
Strong time‑management, multitasking, and adaptability skills
Ability to work under limited supervision and act as a self‑starter
Excellent attention to detail and organization
Strong problem‑solving skills and analytical initiative
Ability to resolve conflict productively and foster mutual outcomes
Travel Possible travel between local company locations.
Working Environment This position is in a manufacturing plant setting that requires working around chemicals. The work involves standing and walking throughout the shift, lighting and temperature are adequate, and lifting up to 35lb may be required. Celgard manufacturing sites are IATF16949 and ISO9001 certified.
