We are looking for a motivated candidate with attention to detail, a passion to continue to develop as a professional, and a desire to be part of a strong team. Job Responsibilities:Field observation and documentation of construction activities for structures, roads, parking areas, utilities (especially storm water collection, sanitary sewer, power, communications/internet, and others), retaining walls, and other construction. Activities to be observed include subgrade preparation, excavation, backfill placement, sub-base placement, soil improvement, compaction, concrete placement, paving, and specialty constructionTesting of construction materials including soil, concrete, asphalt, masonry, grout, fireproofing, structural steel, and reinforcing steelCollect data, maintain, and troubleshoot instrumentationPerform laboratory soils, aggregate, materials, and concrete testingPreparation of reports documenting observations and test resultsCommunication with contractors and engineers to discuss observations and test results Required Skills/Experience:Prior experience on construction projects (5+ years is preferred)High School degree or higherWork may require access to military facilitiesTechnician certification (ACI, ICC, SCDOT or AASHTO) or the ability to obtain within 6 monthsMSHA 5000-23 Training or the ability to obtain within 6 monthsExcellent mathematic computational skillsPossess good oral and written communication skillsAttention to detail and well-organizedAbility to work independently or as part of a multi-disciplinary, multi-office teamStrong professional work ethic and desire to perform at a high levelAdvanced Knowledge of Soil and Concrete Laboratory testingInterest in working outdoors and on construction sites, at all times of the yearBasic understanding of, and the ability to use hand toolsMust be able to lift 50 - 75 pounds on an occasional basis and be physically able to negotiate construction sites, climb ladders and work outsideStrong mechanical aptitude preferred Other Requirements:Valid Driver's LicenseAbility to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record, and credit checkAbility to pass a pre-employment drug screeningProject sites can be throughout the southeast.
