Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PMPosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Civil Estimator to join a growing and well-established heavy civil construction contractor in Columbia, SC. This individual will play a critical role in preparing accurate and competitive estimates for a variety of site development, utility, demolition, and infrastructure projects.The ideal candidate will have experience estimating self-performed heavy civil work and possess a strong understanding of grading, underground utilities, demolition, earthwork, and site development operations. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with project managers, field personnel, subcontractors, vendors, and clients throughout the bidding process.Compensation & BenefitsSalary: $100,000 – $140,000 annually (based on experience)Benefits Include:90% Employer-Paid Health InsuranceVision & Dental CoverageShort-Term Disability InsurancePaid Time Off (PTO)$25,000 Company-Paid Life Insurance Policy$60 Monthly Cell Phone ReimbursementPaid Mileage for Project Site VisitsProject TypesProjects may include:Site DevelopmentCommercial & Industrial DevelopmentUnderground UtilitiesInfrastructure ImprovementsMining ReclamationOverburden RemovalDemolition ProjectsEarthwork & Grading OperationsGeneral Civil ConstructionProject values typically range from $500,000 to $20,000,000+Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare detailed cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects.Perform quantity takeoffs from conceptual, schematic, and final construction drawings.Develop labor, equipment, material, and subcontractor cost estimates.Evaluate project plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and contract documents.Solicit, review, and analyze vendor and subcontractor quotations.Identify construction risks, site constraints, and potential cost impacts.Develop value engineering solutions and alternative construction approaches.Prepare change order pricing and estimate revisions as needed.Assist project managers and field teams during project turnover and startup.Prepare comprehensive bid packages and supporting documentation.Maintain accurate estimating records and cost databases.Collaborate with owners, engineers, architects, subcontractors, and internal project teams throughout the bidding process.QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.Minimum several years of estimating experience with a Heavy Civil Contractor.Proven experience estimating:GradingEarthworkUnderground UtilitiesDemolitionSite Development ProjectsStrong understanding of construction means, methods, and sequencing.Experience preparing estimates ranging from $500K to $20M+.Ability to identify constructability issues and project risks.Strong communication and organizational skills.Technical RequirementsProficiency with:Microsoft Project or PrimaveraMicrosoft ExcelMicrosoft WordAdobe AcrobatExperience with heavy civil estimating software is highly preferred.Additional RequirementsValid Driver's License required.Ability to visit project sites as needed.Strong attention to detail and commitment to estimate accuracy.Ability to manage multiple bids, deadlines, and priorities simultaneously.If you're looking to join a stable and growing organization with a strong pipeline of heavy civil work, we encourage you to apply.INDHPowered by JazzHRJ39PUUcb6G
