Sr. Manufacturing Engineer

Sr. Manufacturing EngineerReports to Engineering ManagerWe are seeking an experienced and dedicated manufacturing engineer to join our team on a direct hire basis in Bensenville. Essential Job Responsibilities:Responsible for Manufacturing Engineering and Project Management to support the introduction of new parts and processes and the optimization of existing processes in cooperation with Engineering and the Quality Department to meet customer demand and expected profit marginPrepare and start-up of product or specification changes as requiredDefine and recommend purchase of capital equipmentPrepare implementation plans for new part projects and manage accordinglyApprove and or Create manufacturing work instructions Create or change routings for the ERP-systemPerform time studiesDefine quality plan together with Engineering and Quality.Analyze technical requirements and specifications; make comparison with internal process capabilitiesMake proposals to drawing changes or specification changes to customer or supplierTake the lead to resolve quality problems in production - create rework sheets to maintain OEEManage, mentor and coach Manufacturing engineers and Techs to help them develop their skills and abilities for team effectivenessTraining of operators on important process changesTraining of new Manufacturing Engineers regarding specifications and processesPrepare investment budget, pay-back analysis, technical negotiations with suppliersOutside vendor managementParticipate in RFQ ( request for quotation ) processRequired Qualifications and Skills:10 years of experience in manufacturing engineering including experience in supervisory responsibilities and team driven solutionsExcellent knowledge of part print specifications and requirements Experience and working knowledge of manufacturing and finishing processes:Heat treating processMaterials – Alloy steels and aluminum gradesAnodizing processPhosphate processSand BlastingDeburring methodsChrome PlatingInvestment castingTumblingMass finishingExperience and working knowledge of:Machining - Horizontal and Vertical machining and programmingGrinding and honingLathe and Swiss machining a plusWire EDMBroachingStampingAutomated MachinesFixture design and cutting tool specificationQuality controlInspection Equipment – CMMOptical Measuring SystemsGaugingKnowledge of SPC tools and process capabilityKnowledge and ability to implement Lean Manufacturing solutionsExperience in labor analysis , workplace study and time studyMust possess strong communication skills and effective writing skills - these skills are essential for writing reports, protocol, generating documents, communicating with customers, etc. Must possess project management skills, detail orientation and strong analytical skillsProficient computer skills: Excel, Word, and Visio a plusEducation:Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in an engineering or Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering) from a four-year college or university; Advanced degree a plus.
