COO - OPS - Institutions OperationsAdministrative Associate II (S)Reporting to the Administrative Officer, this position functions in the centralized mail processing center of a minimum custody male correctional facility. Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:Sorting and inspecting all offender mail.Processing and handling offender legal mail.Utilizing the offender banking system to enter funds received for offenders.Processing and handling all incoming packages and all outgoing mail and packages.Meeting distribution needs for both the facility and offenders ensuring all policy and procedures are applied and ensuring the safety and security of the public and facility staff.Utilizing a great degree of confidentiality, honest and trustworthiness.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management PreferencesEffective July 1, 2025, candidates now must meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the "Minimum Education and Experience" listed from the OSHR class specification as seen in the next section below. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.About Wake Correctional Center:Wake Correctional Center in Raleigh is a minimum-security prison for adult males. It is primarily a "work" unit in that 80 percent of the offenders leave the facility each day for incentive wage work assignments in various state agencies in the Wake County area. Offenders also work at other area adult correctional facilities and Correctional Enterprises operations. There are also offenders nearing their release date that participate on the work release program, leaving the facility to work for businesses in the community, incentive wage work assignments are also available at the prison in food service, clotheshouse, janitorial, landscaping, maintenance, canteen and recreation areas. Wake Technical Community College works with the prison to provide full-time vocational classes in Certified Communications, Heating/Air Conditioning and Electrical Wiring. Part-time classes in Blueprint Reading and Horticulture are also available.
